Don’t you just love a long weekend for getting things done? I focused on getting several projects either caught up or completely done and I am happy to say I did all right. This is Halloween Figs, and it now has all its borders and is ready to be sent out for quilting.
I also worked on getting the borders cut out for the second-to-last round of the Coriander Quilts Border of the Month project. Cory is going to get the last round out to us by the 15th I think, and I want to be ready to get that one wrapped up.
The third project was finally getting the 4th at Granny’s off my design wall, which involved sewing all the rows together. I had it half done for months. Now I just need to trim it up and attach the last couple of borders.
I should have titled this post Borders Are Boring, which I admit I have been muttering to myself the past few days.
I will be so glad to get these projects wrapped up, because I have a Christmas UFO I am dying to get up on the design wall and finish up. Can’t wait to show you that.
If you are in the US, I hope you enjoy our last summer hurrah: Labor Day Weekend. We have no plans, except to sew and read and relax!

It looks lovely. I do like nice borders though and the scalloped edge takes it to spectacular. And to be quilted in plenty of time before halloween is a win for sure!

Can’t stop thinking about that quilt in a different colorway. Went looking for the pattern . I know there will be push back about this statement.. but man o man it is pricey!!
I just LOVE that quilt. So.much.work. but so worth it! xmas ufo? ahren’s quilt? I was looking at a youtube video on hunter’s star ruler. just happened upon it. that creative grids ruler is just lame. it would take forever. I also started watching jessica dayon’s channel…..what is with the no pressing? how is she able to get such accuracy? that was driving me bananas but I still watched……

I enjoy watching Jessica D. too. Her personality is great and her projects are lovely. I am always kind of aghast that she never seems to press anything as she goes. Yet, her accuracy doesn’t seem affected. I was reminded of a sewing group I used to belong to years ago. Every week, we brought our ongoing projects and worked on them, chatting and offering each other advice. Most women had their projects neatly packed into project bags or zippered bags that held their blocks flat. One gal had a tote bag from which she would pull the wrinkled mess of her quilt top. It was so rumpled and unappealing that I marveled at her lack of pride in her work. Why not take the time to fold it carefully and smooth out the wrinkles?
a crumpled mess would be very unappealing to work on. of course, a messy sewing room is all I seem to know? I use to clean it up b4 we had company. I don’t even bother now? I mean? what’s with that?
