I’ve been so bad about sewing so far this summer that I decided I have to actually schedule the time to do it! So, I have been trying to get in a couple of hours or more every morning before it gets too hot upstairs. We have air conditioning, but Dennis keeps his eye on how much solar power we are using, so I try to be careful.
To be honest, I can’t remember the actual numbers of these FQS Designer Mystery 25 blocks! I know I have made 5 blocks so far, but I did at least one of them out of order (#8, I think). I think these may be blocks 3 and 4. I’ve got the fabrics for 5 and 6 all starched and ready to cut out, so my plan is to tackle them tomorrow. Over the weekend, my goal is to get the blocks together for the 4th at Granny’s project. Won’t it be nice to have that top done by the actual 4th of July? Truth be told, I am ready to move on from red, white, and blue!
I know I said I might revisit the red fabric I used for those red star points at the center of the quilt top. However, when I look at that quilt in person, the red dot I used shows up great. I guess I won’t worry about how it seems darker in photos, because really? How often am I going to look at that quilt in a photo when I have it on my porch or my bed?

Hope you all have a great weekend! Our weather here is just about perfect. Maybe there will be a BBQ in Dennis’ and my weekend plans.

Designer mystery blocks look nice. Glad you decided on letting the red stay. I does make the star pop nicely – but doesn’t detract from the other stars either.
I’m embarking on Jessica Dayon’s latest sew along. Not done Courthouse Steps before – and I’m a sucker for stars anyway!
Dennis and my husband ought to compare notes! Can I do washing today? Not yet. Ugh! Then again I do have treadles to hand – all time favourite 66K Singer – named Jeanette MacDonald! That keeps him happy!
Just wondering if you have a tutorial post on how starch your fabrics? I think you use liquid starch rather than spray starch. I was gifted some liquid starch but wasn’t sure if you used it full strength or diluted it somewhat. Enjoy reading your blog and seeing your quilts!
The mystery blocks are very pretty, lovely fabrics. The 4th at Granny’s quilt top is perfect, I wouldn’t change a thing. Like you said you will not be looking at it in pictures. Have a great weekend!
