This is my latest Bliss block, #8. I like it. I’ve always been a fan of that donut kind of shape in the center of a block. The half-square triangles feature a diagonal stripe fabric, prevalent in the Stitched fabric collection (by Fig Tree for Moda) I am using. It comes in every color in the line: red, yellow, green, aqua, and I think there is a tan in there as well. It isn’t my favorite, but it is growing on me.
Bliss is a collection of pattern cards that came in the Fat Quarter Shop’s Sew Sampler boxes a couple of years ago. You can buy the set on the FQS website, along with the finishing instructions. The entire set is only $32.49, which is a heck of a good price. I am enjoying making the blocks and, in particular, believe that the setting will be the factor that sets this quilt apart.

Here are my eight blocks, plus an extra one on the bottom. I remade the block because I didn’t think the aqua pinwheels stood out enough, but the yellow ones in the block just above it aren’t much of an improvement. Which block do you vote for, the one with yellow pinwheels or the one with aqua?

This is another recent purchase. I got so tired of my stupid yellow tape measure always drooping over things and decided to get a retractable one. How cute is that red one with the little house and flag on it? Of course, it is by Lori Holt; all the super cute things inevitably are. It was only $4.50 and will make my life better.
It snowed here yesterday! Not much, but it started as hail, and of course, it came down at the exact time I had to pick Eva up from school. I made it up the steep driveway and all the way to our pickup point. She emerged damp, but otherwise unscathed.
I sure hope you all have a splendid weekend!

I definitely like the aqua better, but then aqua has become my favorite color so I like it everywhere!
I have to say the aqua is growing on me
Surround yourself with beautiful things!
lol I try!
I like the yellow the best. But I have to say I think I am on a yellow kick. Most of the fabric I have recently purchased has yellow in it or has a yellow background. Perhaps it is because it has been so cold here in Connecticut and we have had snow on the ground since the beginning of January and I want spring. This is the first year since 2019 we have not gone to St Thomas for a week in February.
Oh, sorry you are missing your holiday this February! I am so anxious for spring to get here too. My daffodils had just started to bloom and then we get a dusting of snow!
I think it’s worth picking both blocks apart, using the red center from the yellow block with the aqua pinwheels. My opinion – that combination is more in keeping with your other blocks.
I am very partial to aqua, but so far I think the yellow fits in better. Early days, hang on to them both!. Those stripy green ½ square triangles would have sent me over the edge placement wise.
same.
You know, Vickie, that is actually a good idea. I may do that. Good point about the red center.
I think the aqua shows up more, but as Vickie says swap over the centres would be a good option. The design wall is filling up nicely!
I am going to have to pick a project and let it have the entire wall, lol. I think it is going to be Bliss. I am loving how that is coming together.
I’m on Team Yellow for the pinwheels…no offense aqua! 💛 The red flowers in the yellow tie it to the center, in my opinion. And, I seem to be noticing a lot of yellow being used everywhere recently! We’re still wallowing in warm weather & almost no snow here in NW Wyoming!
At least the rain and snow stopped here. I am actually getting some starching in today! It’s cold, but the sky is blue and the sun is shining.
I like the blue pinwheels!
They are growing on me
Both are very nice blocks but I think the aqua block appears washed out with all the other blocks you have made. For me, using the aqua one would depend on a balance with your remaining blocks.
Very nice piecing – as usual from you!
I also appreciate the info on the rulers in your previous post. I need to go digging through my collection of rulers and see if I have either one of them.
I love a good trim tool ruler. There are a lot to choose from and I think one is necessary to make a good square in a square block.
Both pinwheels have their good qualities, but I must say that Vickie’s idea of swapping in the red center really would look terrific. That is a cute little tape measure!
I think that is what I’ll do
I like the aqua !!
I’m team aqua. Have you been watching any of the olympics? I am team U.S.A. all the way.
Stay warm! I’m off to read the posts I missed this week…..
Yes, we watch the highlights on YouTube every night. I love the skating so much. Curling mystifies me.
with what you have completed at this point, you need the aqua for better color balance
