I didn’t sew much over the weekend (are you tired of hearing me say that?), but I did finish the third and fourth blocks for the Poinsettia Stars project. This is a pattern booklet written by Sherri McConnell featuring her Christmas fabric collection, Poinsettia and Pear.
I made Blocks C and D, and to catch up, I will need to make the next two, E and F, so I don’t fall behind. That block in the lower part of the photo was the trickier one. There were a whole bunch of HSTs with different fabric combinations, and I had to concentrate to place things in the right position so the pattern looked right. If you turn one the wrong way, you sure do notice it!
Over the weekend, here’s what I did accomplish: I washed my bedding, starched fabric, finished a book, cleaned the kitchen floors, gave Archie a bath at Tractor Supply, and had the family over for Sunday dinner.
Sunday’s menu was a Mexican theme: Pork Chile Verde, pinto beans, and cilantro lime rice. I had all the fixings for the pork stew: tortillas, sour cream, grated cheese, and I even pickled red onions for garnish! The house smelled fantastic, and I hope everyone enjoyed it.
I did get some Happy Mail on Saturday that I am looking forward to sharing with you. I hesitate to take on any more projects until the New Year, but this Fig Tree pattern and new fabric collection was too hard for me to resist. I look forward to sharing that with you in tomorrow’s post!

As usual, everything looks great! Love that Poinsettia and Pear fabric— I have thus far resisted, but Birch and Willow is gonna get me! I wonder how that pattern would look in it. Love the stew— nothing like spending time with family. Can’t wait to see your Fig Tree purchase—the new Butternut and Sage collection is really starting to depart from her usual red/green/ivory colorway so it’s exciting to see where it goes! I’ve got my eye on Birch and Willow too. I got a really nice assortment of Butternut and Sage, including a layer cake. The pattern looks pretty simple.

oh my goodness! that lower right block is amazing! I love it! both blocks are beautiful but the lower right is amazing. it LOOKS complicated. worth the work.
that pork dish looks wonderful. my husband loves pork burritos. I make it pretty often.
Jessica sews with a Juki. kinda unusual.
thank goodness the weather is nicer….makes the dog walking so much nicer.
More and more people in the quilting world are using Juki machines. Kimberly from FQS uses one because they are so fast.

Is your Fig Tree pattern Gathering Baskets? Her Olivander owl pattern is cute, too. Butternut and Sage has so many pretty cream fabrics, and the many polka dots are fun. I think there are eight of them.
