This summery recipe for Fruit Pizza has been in our family for over 50 years. My mother-in-law used to make it regularly. She was not a cook by any stretch of the imagination, but she loved this recipe because it was so easy and she could often bamboozle Grandpa Larry into making it for her. It is an old Pillsbury recipe and is still featured on their website. Pillsbury promotes this recipe because it features a package of their refrigerated pre-made sugar cookie dough for the crust.
The instructions on my ancient recipe card vary ever so slightly from the current recipe on Pillsbury’s website. Here are the changes I made: I only used about 1 T of sugar rather than the 1/3 cup they used. Their current recipe calls for apple jelly, but you can use any sort of jelly. I used orange marmalade and mixed in a tablespoon of water to make it easier to brush over the cream cheese mixture. I also only baked the cookie for 12 or 13 minutes. The minimum baking time.
You can use all your delicious summer fruits and let the kids help you arrange them decoratively. Everyone loves this recipe, and it is wonderfully easy to take to a potluck.

These tomatoes were sitting on Ryan’s counter when we went over for homemade pizza on Sunday night. He always has a summer garden, and this year’s tomatoes have been excellent. He’s been woefully plagued with gophers this year, so a number of his veggies didn’t do well, but the tomatoes have been unscathed.
I am planning on having a little vacation at the end of this week- more of a long weekend. My sister Andrea and I are flying up to Gig Harbor, WA to stay with our niece Lizz. My sister Kate will be there as well, another niece, and some cousins. A Ladies’ Weekend! I can’t wait to see everyone. We have gotten so spread out now that all the nieces and nephews are grown and have started their own families. I have really been looking forward to this!

Ladies weekend— so fun! Enjoy. Maybe a quilt shop to explore?? I was at a dinner party a couple of weeks ago— our hostess served the fruit pie, except the base was a huge round slice of watermelon cut through the middle. It was heavenly— so light for the summer. She used yogurt for the icing and just decorated it with the plain fruit. I will definitely make this for summer parties!
We are in Washington State this week visiting our daughter who lives in Vancouver. Saturday we go up to Port Townsend for the day with a college friend. We go right past Gig Harbor so I’ll give it a look!
I have a recipe for the fruit pizza very similar to yours from one of those church ladies’ cookbooks I inherited from my aunt. Good idea!
Your fruit pizza looks delicious! So similar to the mini fruit tarts in bakeries that I love….. but so much simpler! I’m glad Ryan’s tomatoes have come through the dreaded gopher attacks. They look delicious also. Not much beats a tomato sandwich using homegrown, RIPE tomatoes!
Thanks for sharing the fruit pizza recipe! Those tomatoes look delicious! We have a creature called a ‘vole’ (not a ‘mole’) that even gets into the greenhouse to destroy plants! Our gophers are prairie dogs–sounds cute, but they’re not! Have a great getaway with your girls! That sounds like a wonderful trip!
Enjoy your weekend in Gig Harbor, wonderful to get together with the ladies. I’m currently visiting my Daughter in Tacoma, WA. We’re having a lazy day today which is very nice.
I haven’t made fruit pizza in years. I’m sure I used the original Pillsbury recipe from a little cookbook that was a grocery store promotion. I’m sure I still have it. Your fruit pizza is picture perfect!
Have fun on your girls weekend! It’s always a good time when you get to visit with family you haven’t seen in awhile. Those tomatoes look so good! Do you know what those big red and green ones are called? Our tomatoes did well this year and are always looking for new varieties that do well in this heat.
