I am making some progress on the Hunter’s Star block, using my Deb Tucker ruler. It is easy and the blocks are coming out great. I think my plan will be to make a bunch of the triangle units that you see above and then experiment with different layout combinations on the design wall.

I keep finding pretty fabric combinations to use. I decided on a border fabric for this quilt I think.

My problem is, I think I will end up making more than one quilt with all this fabric. I want to do some other color combinations: navy/green, black/green, green/red, light blue/dark blue…. I have so darn much of it and there are so many variations of the Hunter’s Star quilt layouts. My mind is just reeling with the possibilities.
You will notice in the top photo that I have found some “blender” fabrics to work in with all these busy prints. It is the only way my brain can accept all the busy-ness. Barbara Brackman, who has designed many William Morris collections for Moda is very good about including these tone on tone fabrics that, in my opinion, make this style of fabric much easier to use in a quilt.
I am certainly enjoying the process of making these Hunter’s Star blocks and thank you all again for guiding me towards some rulers and patterns that make the process do-able!
