Now that I have a couple of finished UFOs and WIPs out of the way, I am excited for the new projects I have begun in 2026. My goal was to try to use leftover fabric from past projects and see if I could use up some of the stash I have accumulated. Yesterday afternoon, I assembled what I have made so far on the big design wall.
On the upper left, we have 18 3″ blocks for the Celebrate America 250 Years Sew Along. I am using the Rosie fabric collection by Fig Tree and the book, Celebrate With Quilts by Susan Ache and Moda Lissa. I still haven’t heard exactly when this SAL is supposed to start, but I think I am just going to forge ahead and see how I do. I think I will sew this one on my own and not drag the project out into a proper sew-along.
On the upper right is my first Swoon Sixteen block by Thimbleblossoms. The plan was to use my leftover Nantucket Summer fabric by Camille Roskelley and make a “free quilt”. Um, that didn’t work very well, since I ordered a boatload more of that collection to be sure I’d have enough.
I will have enough.

In the lower-left corner is the first block I made in the free A Quilting Life 2026 BOM, which Sheri McConnell is hosting. Her projects are usually simple sewing and always result in a pretty bed-sized quilt. For this one, my plan was to use leftover scraps from a quilt I made from Camille Roskelley’s Sunnyside fabric collection, featuring yummy corals, blues, and sage green. Of course, I needed more of that as well. It hasn’t arrived yet, as the shop I ordered it from is in Ohio and they’ve been snowed under for the past week. Sherri just released the second block for February yesterday, so I will get on that one and share it soon.
Finally, a project that I haven’t mentioned to you all so far. This is Bliss, a BOM that was only available in the Fat Quarter Shop’s Sew Sampler Boxes for 2022. Now that it’s 2026, FQS offers the Bliss pattern cards and finishing instructions for purchase on its website. I had a fat-quarter bundle of Fig Tree’s Stitched collection that I had purchased a few years ago, so I didn’t have to buy anything else to make the project. I had some Fig Tree background fabric on hand that works perfectly, so I am good to go on that project, too. The blocks seem pretty simple, and I made the four blocks you see in the photo yesterday afternoon.
The only other sew-along I am considering is the Sewcialites 3, which will start up in a month or so. Fat Quarter Shop hosts a free BOM for it, and it has led to great quilts the past two times I joined in the sew-along.
The final tally is two actual monthly BOMs (A Quilting Life and Sewcialites) and three independent projects (Swoon Sixteen, Celebrate America, and Bliss). I love having multiple things going on at once, so these projects should keep me from getting bored, right?
The weather here has been lovely, with temperatures expected to reach the mid-70s this week! As the Irish say, “There’s some drying in the day”. I won’t keep you, as I need to go starch a ton of fabric for all these projects…

You amaze me! My sewing room is not near big enough to handle all those projects at once, but I do love looking at yours. The Swoon block is definitely giving me thought. Enjoy your lovely weather. Single digits here again later in the week.
I think I may try my second Swoon block today. They do take a little time, but each one is fun with the different fabric placements etc.
It’s so nice seeing you back at it in your sewing room when a year ago you were unable to get any time in there at all. You definitely have some nice options happening!
As always, you’re amazing in all you accomplish in a day! Surely you look at that variety of delightful blocks and smile with joy. My hat is off to you!
It’s to be 47*F today and I’d like all of the ice and snow to disappear, please and thank you.
Hugs!
I love the look of the finished Bliss – that is going to be one cute quilt!
I just love the swoon block and I have the pattern. I also have enough fabric from a similar color line to make them. Some day.
18 right now and snow flakes coming down. 8 tonight. When will it stop??! At least I can sew the day away.
Love all your wonderful projects! I wasn’t sure about the Celebrate America but have been seeing it done up in Rosie and am so in love with it! May have to hop in on some of these sewalongs.
I have the Swoon pattern but never got around to making it. I really want to now. Bliss is definitely new. I’m still old but not senile….yet.
