I got all my fabrics lined up for the Winter Village project. The fabrics are from a couple of Lella Boutique Christmas collections. I had to order a few more greys and greens (and maybe a red or two) because I didn’t have quite enough variety. Now I have enough to make the entire quilt. Only I was just going to make a table runner. Typical Nicole, to go way overboard. So maybe I should make a couple of table runners and give one away as a gift? I shall see how the first one goes and see if I want to keep going.
I’ve been in the Bay Area this week for more medical appointments. My life seems to revolve around them these days. Between some issues I have been having and Dennis’ regular infusions and upcoming cararact surgery, we have our hands full! Be that as it may, as a result of all this back and forth, I have done very little sewing. This weekend maybe I can catch up on a few things. No promises.

Since I haven’t been sewing, I will show you a kit I recently purchased in the same Home Sweet Haunt collection by Stacy Iest Hsu, that my Spooks and Spells quilt was made from. I purchased it from The Prosser Sewing Basket Quilt Shop for a great price. This kit has some additional fabrics in it, such as the green spiderweb print and the orange skeleton print. How adorable. The kit came packaged beautifully in a zippered project bag which will be so useful. The pattern is so darn cute too. I think it would lend itself very well to both table runners and a more square table topper of the haunted house. I can’t say I will make anything from it this year, but there is always next year!

Here is a better look at the fabric in the kit. Those cats and happy skeletons are too cute.
Have a great weekend everyone!

I absolutely love that orange skeleton fabric! Made me smile. And that Happy Haunt pattern is sooooo cute!
I think just to make one of the haunted houses would be so fun to use as a candle mat or small topper for an end table.
I used to have Stacey Iest Hsu in the “baby and children” category in my mind, but wow, I really love what she’s been coming up with lately. May have to jump in at some point. Hope your appointments went well— have a great weekend.
I agree, I really like her pattern designs as well as the fabric collections. She is pretty reliable about coming out with something seasonal.
The hissy kitty is funny. I love the fabric – it is another fun one for you. I hope all goes well with the appointments.
When I made the Spooks and Spells project, I had to take care to make sure I was placing that hissy kitty fabric right side up. In spite of that, I really love it!
Oh never thought of that – you could have ended up with a kitty wanting belly rubs!
Make the whole quilt!!! I was looking at Lynn Wilder’s blog and she said that she is going to be in your city for a quilt show…will you be taking that in???
No, I’ve got some other activities planned for that time, unfortunately.
The non-traditional Winter Village colors are very appealing. A runner or topper would be cute using them. I could also see using just a section of the Happy Haunt pattern for a topper. We’ve had our share of appointments in ‘the big city’ two hours north of us recently & it’s nice to have that behind us, for now. Have a relaxing weekend!
Thanks Jan. I am looking forward to an uneventful weekend. Unfortunately, I have to return to the Bay Area Monday for more appointments!
yup, totally get it… getting old and medical appointments suck!! keep rewarding yourself and creating small wins. its the little things that make a difference.
Getting older certainly comes with some challenges.
When they said once you retire you get to do a lot of traveling, I didn’t think it meant to doctors’ appointments!
But i love the fabrics you picked…especially the last one!
make all of it…..that has been my running joke with sewing friends. I can’t die. I have too much fabric!
I’ve been sick all week. It just sucks. I get the dog out for mid-day walk and then go back to bed. it’s just a bad cough and congestion. I wanted to go march at No Kings tomorrow but I don’t want to spread this nasty cold.
hope you can sew this weekend…..hope I can sew this weekend.
Gosh, I hope you feel better Ina. Something about the change in seasons always seems to trigger a cold or other virus.
After doing all these Halloween projects, I am tired of sewing! I will force myself to do something though.
I ordered the Home Sweet Haunt panel from FQS for next year- a table runner most likely. It’s really cute!
I should order the panel again just to have it on hand for table runners. I have lots of the fabric from the line left over. That is one of the cutest panels I have seen in ages.
Love the fabrics! Can’t wait to see what you end up making! I like the idea of table runners and tabletop instead of a whole quilt.
I can certainly experiment with more fabric and make more things than if I were making full sized quilts. I have enough of those already!
