Honestly, I really have been working on finishing up my Halloween projects. I have sewn the Pumpkin Gatherings top together and nearly have finished the Spooks and Spells top. I just got really distracted yesterday pulling out Christmas projects that I have been wanting to do. I promise to show you my finished Halloween projects tomorrow, but just had to share the direction my mind is heading.
The featured image at the top of this post is the Christmas at Granny’s sew-along that I started last year. Oh my gosh, these blocks are so adorable. I have only made four of them out of a total of nine. Only five more blocks to make, that is doable, right? The finished quilt is only 62″ square, which is about as big as I want to get these days.
This delightful sew-along was hosted last year by Heather Briggs at My Sew Quilty Life. She has details on her blog, so you can look it up to see the fabric requirements and so on. The pattern is for sale here.

This is the Christmas Kaleidoscope pattern by Gigi’s Thimble. I pulled these fabrics together last year with the idea of making it, and of course, never got to it. I love the use of the two shades of green for the scrappy chain design and the idea of using a different red for each of the red blocks. I can’t wait to make this one, but can’t decide if I should go for the 80 x 80″ version or just stick to the lap size. I have promised not to make any more gigantic quilts for a while, so the smaller one may be it.

And this one, be still my heart. The pattern is Winter Village by The Pattern Basket. I only want to make a table runner, so I will be adapting the pattern. I totally want to copy the pattern and use Lella Boutique Christmas fabrics. I have some in my stash, which you can see in the photo, but I had to scour the internet to find more in shades of grey and dusty green. I absolutely love the combination of that pattern and those fabrics.
How about you? Are you looking ahead to Christmas projects you want to make?

Oohhh I’m loving the Pattern Basket pattern- I am a sucker for anything with trees! Can’t wait to see your table runner 😍
I have loved Pattern Basket patterns for years. As soon as I get the grey fabrics I ordered I want to get started on that Winter VIllage table runner.
All three of those projects are wonderful— I would have a lot of trouble trying to make the Christmas Kaleidoscope small— it is so beautiful. I have quite a few Halloween things going—for Christmas, I just want to finish the HO HO HO quilt (this year’s freebie from Fat Quarter Shop) and I did order a Jolly Box from them, so we’ll see what it is. Every year, I always think I am going to make quilted stocking for my entire family— maybe this will be it! Xox
How are you going to use your Ho Ho Ho quilt? I pulled out the FQS Christmas one we did last year and it seems such an awkward size to put on a table. I guess I could place it diagonally and it would look nice. Those FQS projects are meant to be wall hangings I suppose, but I just don’t do wall hangings in my house. We have too much artwork on the walls.
Yep– it’s a wall hanging for me! I do throw them across the bottom of my beds for decoration. Since you have so many nice quilts, you need to give up at least one piece of artwork for a changing display IMHO. I am starting to think of getting a ladder!
I have THREE ladders……just sayin’
Oh those houses! I’ve been in Christmas mode for a while now. Working on my third table runner. I am so excited. Found new folks to give them to!
Those houses are going to haunt me..it will make a beautiful table runner.
I love making a new table runner or two for each season!
Pattern Basket! Their projects are just adorable.
They sure are. I have a binder full of them!
You and I are on the same page Nicole. I sent my Spooks and Spells and the Steampunk Halloween to the quilters last week. I also finished up my 75 x 90 Christmas table runner quilt. I am very happy with that one and currently deciding which Christmas quilt to do next
I too struggled with the directional fabric in spooks and spells. I should have read the instructions several more times. It was all there in black and white!
Lucky for me there was enough extra fabric to forgive my cutting mistakes in Spooks and Spells! The instructions were good, but they didn’t show the cutting for the orange fabric that would have had the print right side up. That cost me some yardage to fix! I absolutely love the way that quilt turned out though. It is surprisingly easy to put together once you get all the pieces in the right position.
You did a Halloween Steampunk quilt? Oh my goodness, I bet that is amazing.
I really like the Winter Village pattern. I can imagine a great table runner with that pattern. And I love the gray and grayed green fabric you have with that. Whose fabric line was that?
I am using a couple of older collections by Lella Boutique. Christmas Morning and Christmas Eve. Her new group is Berry and Pine, and I have ordered some fatquarters from that one as well.
I really like the Christmas At Granny’s block with a tree in the center. I made a tree Christmas quilt last year with untraditional colors–aqua, hot pink, lime green, etc. Those trees really pop! You can never have too many holiday runners, can you?!
love those colors together! reminds me of the 1960s when I was a kid.
I think pulling fabrics for a project is the best part of quilting!
You are absolutely correct! The more holiday runners, the better.
I love that Christmas at Granny’s quilt. I can’t wait to see the rest of your blocks. And I love your other choices – the fabric choices for the kaleidoscope are amazing!
I need to show the other three blocks I’ve made for the Christmas at Granny’s quilt. There’s a little stocking, an ornament (which was a you know what to sew) and one more I am blanking on. One of the upcoming blocks features a gingerbread boy and I will need to find a brown that works for him.
Too cute, all 3 patterns and I hope you have the time to make them in whatever size you choose!
I still need to finish my queen size Single Irish Chain quilt and rob a bank in order to pay to get it quilted (just kidding there).
Also DS1 and DIL prefer black, gray, and white with some deep reds and that takes some doing for Christmas. Sigh!
I look forward to seeing your Halloween creations tomorrow!
Have fun!
Hugs!
I probably won’t get all three of those projects done, but I can wish!
It is so much fun to play with fabric for upcoming projects.
Oh my, I love Christmas Kaleidoscope quilt! I have lots of reds, greens and creams that I could certainly use. I’m trying to use my stash whenever I can but the new fabric lines are so tempting. I really enjoy seeing your creations, thanks for sharing your work.
Thanks so much for commenting, Sandra! I too, love to pull from my stash when planning a new quilt. Actually, that is half the fun of the process.
These are all great projects. Barring family emergencies and such, you should be able to finish them all! I have two possible projects in mind but I just got three tops back from the long arm quilter and I need to get the binding on them first. I also have a couple of small projects in mind, a pillow and a bag.
I love the Kaleidoscope quilt! You should make it 80×80 and gift it to Eva. I gave my kids each a Christmas quilt for their beds. The village is also fabulous! I think I may be making a purchase!
Keep up the inspiration Nicole!
Well how can you not want to sew up these quilts!! I’ve been thinking Christmas too. I had bought fat quarters for 25 cents a piece when a store was closing out and I think I want to get that project out of the tote and completed. But what about the 3 quilts I am currently working on?!?!?! Oh my. Have a great day, Nicole!
Love all your projects in the queue! I don’t know what it is about Lella Boutique but her fabric collections just keep getting better and better! Pattern basket also always utilizes other designers fabrics so well with their patterns. Now I think I need a Christmas Village too 😳🤣🤣
