This is Really My Last Project for 2019

I managed to squeeze in one last project for 2019.  I don't have a lot to show for my year in quilting this year, but I am going out strong.  With luck, this will be how I will continue in 2020.  This little quilt is not perfect by any means, and I am going to try to rectify a couple of those chopped off points before I quilt it.  This was a tricky block to make, and I can't say I enjoyed it 100%. Those little pieced flying geese units were a bear.  Lots of bias edges and ways to go wrong.  Still, I know I will enjoy it as a table topper with a fun wintery scented candle on it.

I am full of ideas for January projects, which I can't wait to get started on.  I have a snowflake quilt in mind, plus a couple of small wool projects.

It is time for us to say goodbye to our son and wish him a safe trip home to Ireland.  That makes me very sad, but we enjoyed every moment of being together.

Hope you had a great weekend and are looking forward to cheering in the new decade!

  1. Great finish to wish 2019 farewell. It will be perfect for a winter vignette. My only post Christmas shopping is for some 1/2 price candles for next year’s decorating.
I just want to thank you for your blog and sharing your life with us. I enjoy reading about your interests and your sly sense of humor always makes my day.
Wishing you blessings, health, happiness, good food, good books and lots of fun hours in your sewing studio for 2020!

  2. I’m back in my quilt room following a trip to my son’s condo in Costa Rica and then prep for the holidays. Sliding back in with a quilt half done on the wall and loads of cut blocks to be stitched. Sometimes it’s hard to figure out where I left off. As always have enjoyed your blog all year. Loved your photo, can pick out your sisters and which is your immediate family by now. Glad you had Ahren to add to your circle. Happy New Year Nicole, wish you lots of inspiration, and happiness of course.

  4. Glad that you had a such a great Christmas. And that you managed to squeeze in one more small quilt. Thanks for all the sharing you did this year. Wishing you all the best in 2020!

  5. No shying away from a challenge, I’ll say that about you! That’s a cute little quilt! Getting into sewing may help take your mind off sending Ahren back to Ireland, though! And, unless I’m mistaken, you’ll soon be planning a trip over there for another great visit! I know. It doesn’t making saying ‘goodbye for now’ any easier. Wishing you a happy, healthy New Year!

  6. Wonderful table topper. Glad you had a good visit with Arhen and the rest of the family.
Ideas for the new year. Good for you!
Look forward to your posts in the new year. You are a stimulating quilter, sharing on your blog. Thank you.

  7. Cute table topper! I have been working on my lists for 2020. I have a couple larger quilts but I am going to try and work on more lap size and table top size for a few. Maybe they will be easier to finish up! And I am going to take my first stab at wool! Thanks for sharing your quilting adventures on this blog.

  8. I think you have been spending many happy hours with needle and thread this year–seems you were frequently showing a new project! It always seems to be more fun to start a new thing, doesn’t it? Happy New Year!
