Missing In Action

img_0103.jpg

I know, I know, I have really been missing in action lately.  I’m sorry for the lack of regular posts and am extremely grateful to all of you who check my blog regularly to see what I am up to.  I’ll tell you in a minute.

Sunday I attended a Banish the UFOs get-together (that is the name of my sewing group).  We get together three times a month to sew on whatever project we are currently working on.  I love these gals and look forward to seeing them enormously.  The significant thing about our meeting on Sunday was that it was in a brand new location.  We have met for the past 10 years at Eddie’s Quilting Bee in Mountain View, California.  Well, Eddie upped and moved on us!  He has a fabulous new location in the next town over, Sunnyvale.  The new store has two floors, two class rooms, an elevator, a kitchen, brand new tables and chairs in our classroom, great lighting—well I could just go on and on.

I took my Jelly Bellies project with me, hoping I could make sense of the stacks of numbered rows I had placed carefully together.  What I accomplished in the five hours I was there you can see above.  Six rows.  Out of twenty.  I was a bit distracted, as you might imagine.  I had to get up and wander around the new shop several times while I was there, in order to take it all in.  Tomorrow I am going back, and I will take my camera this time, and see if I can get some photos to share with you.  Also, maybe I will get a bit more sewing done!

What have I actually been up to, that is consuming all my time?  Clothes.  Specifically, I have been helping out my cousin Claudia with her fashion business.  She is a consultant for Carol Anderson By Invitation (CAbi).  I have been helping her do trunk shows and get ready for a big fashion show coming up, and she is basically paying me with clothes.  Actually, I have bought more than she has given me, but oh boy, am I having fun.  Look at the detail on this coat—

  1. Love that quilt! I didn’t see before that there are little pinwheels that come together where the blocks meet. Nice! No wonder you have been busy – what cute clothes. That plaid jacket is just too cute!

  2. Nicole that quilt is just going to be awesome…you got a lot together…it’s always harder when you have a bump in the road like you had…picking them all up and then having to figure it all out again. Keep going it’s going to be the best!

  3. Love your Jelly Bellies project. We started a UFO sewing group at my place some time ago, but now we have had “vacation” for several months. Perhaps time to start it again. Because my UFO-stash is growing. I know exactly what to start on when my arm is better.

  4. I am raiding your fabric stash. Every project you make has such gorgeous fabric. Isn’t being distracted the best?? The social part of quilting is just as important and fun as the quilting part. Have fun with the clothing shows!

  5. Oh, I think the colors in this are just calling me! It is so warm and fallish. My favorite time of year. Which pattern is this again? What fabric?

  6. Well, I wouldn’t say you’ve been MIA. But you have been very busy! Love those fall clothes…and the Jelly Belly quilt you’re working on. BTW, my “design wall” is my living room floor. lol!

  8. I have visited Eddie’s Quilting Bee when I go to quilt with my friend Judy who lives in Salinas. Will have to check out the new place. Your quilt is absolutely wonderful.

  9. Your quilt project is beautiful and I probably would have gotten less done then you did working in a new store with so much waiting to be seen and maybe bought, LOL. Love your new clothes – cute.
    Hugs – karen
