I had a few things to do yesterday, but I still got some sewing done. I needed to make the September block for the 2026 A Quilting Life BOM before the October block is released next week. I am happy to say I am keeping up with this sew-along and am also putting my leftover Old Glory fabric by Lella Boutique to good use.
I ended up substituting a different block for the one Sheri released. She mentioned in her YouTube video that she realized that her September block was quite similar to another block in the sew along. She did offer a suggestion of how to change it up so it had a different center. I decided to just swap out the whole thing and the block above is what I ended up with.

Here is my small design wall, with all nine blocks. Only three more to go and this quilt will be ready to put together!

I did receive some Happy Mail yesterday. I can’t believe how quickly I got the 12 1/2″ Creative Grids Log Cabin Trim Tool! I will be putting that to work over the weekend. I also got a box of the cutest big chunky clips called Quilty Clippies. These will be great for holding block units together if they have to be stored after cutting and before sewing. I also picked up Sherri McConnell’s Pumpkin Hollow pattern that is being used for a row quilt sew-along that will happen sometime this fall.

Here is a closer look at those big clips. Aren’t they cool? I bet you can think of loads of ways to use them.

Lastly, just look how perfectly my little pumpkins will work with the Log Cabin Trim Tool. I tried hard to get them all to a uniform 3 1/2″, since you must line that center square up on the ruler for all of your log trimming. So excited to try this out.
No real plans for the weekend, so I hope to get lots of sewing and reading done. I am working on my September book review posts, so look for that Monday or Tuesday.
Happy sewing everyone!

Those clippies were included in a recent Sew Sampler box— I probably would never have purchased them but now I’m hooked. They hold up to 30 pieces of fabric and they’re really strong. Love the Pumpkin pattern— Birch and Willow is a great collection. Have a great weekend!
I may use them today to organize my strips for the Log Cabin blocks I am working on. They are such fun to work with.
Hope you are continuing to recover from your surgery!
Happy Mail, indeed! I need to look into those clippies! Happy sewing this weekend!
Ooh the clippies are so cute! The brain is telling me I neeeeeed them! I’m liking that Ohio star with a little bit extra too! Still cutting strips for my log cabin – then I’m wondering about centre square or the quarter square – oooh decisions, decisions! Nice dilemma to have though, any extras can make the second choice after that!
Have fun with the new ruler!
I am about to go up and tackle my first log cabin blocks! I am actually happy that this quilt will be a smaller throw. I have to stop making gigantic bed quilts.
Also guilty of making huge quilts. I’m trying to do smaller throws now and ones that just go on the end of the bed to keep your feet warm. Well, that’s the intention!
omg! your pumpkin is a perfect fit!! yay!!!
I keep having bad luck with my shipments. My order from Fat Quarter Shop has sat in Oakland for 7 days. UPS says it is officially lost. ugh.
those clips are adorable! have a great weekend! unfortunately, it’s going to be hot…….double ugh
Oh no! I am having a parallel experience. I placed a big order at Rossville Quilts and it has seemingly never left the Indianapolis post office since they mailed it on Sept 25. This is ridiculous.
triple ugh.
