I got a bit of sewing done over the weekend. My goal was to get caught up on a couple of BOMs I am doing. The blocks above are for the Riley Blake Challenge 2026, a reliably fun sew-along. This one is a block of the week project, with block designs being provided for free by Riley Blake designers.

This is block 13, Patchwork Star, designed by Liza Taylor. A couple blocks in this sew-along are framed, a look I think I like.

Next, I did another Sewcialites block. The block of the week wasn’t for me, so I substituted something that fits better with my other blocks.

This is a block from a Nancy Rink pattern called Misty Meadow. It was the right size and I thought the French General fabrics would work for the blended patchwork effect I am going for.

I may actually use this setting for my Sewcialites blocks. I can make my center medallion work and I do like the layout a lot. I will not be doing any applique.
It was cold and rainy here the entire weekend. April has been a particularly crummy month as far as weather and so many other things are concerned. May had better arrive full of sunshine and blue skies or I don’t know what I’ll do. I did make a lemon snacking cake that cheered me up a lot. Plus I have been eating some delicious chocolate that a friend sent me. Better than medicine to cure what ails me. Wishing you all a great week.

Yes, all in all April 2026 was not very kind to you. I hope May is much brighter and happier.
You sure do have some pretty blocks made.
Here’s to a sunnier May!
Since your blocks look so cheerful, I am hoping it means your eyes are doing better! Our April weather here in Arizona has been glorious… sure wish we could share some of our sunshine and get some of your rain. Still hoping and praying your quilts make it home to you…it make take awhile for that facility to get all their lost goodies sorted but it could be very fortuitous to have your name/address written and attached to the plastic bag…at least, that is what I am thinking. Have a lovely week!
