Hope you all had a happy St. Patrick’s Day. My son Ahren, who actually lives in Dublin, Ireland, told me he planned to stay home today and not venture into the heart of town, due to the tourists and rowdy drinking crowds. He said he was going to walk to his neighborhood store and buy a real Irish dinner: salmon and potatoes. He told me that the Irish are mystified that we Americans think that corned beef and cabbage is typical of Irish cuisine. Most of the people he knows have never even eaten corned beef! Cabbage and mashed potatoes are popular, but nobody eats corned beef. Hope I haven’t ruined any myths for you all.
I’m no spoil sport, though. Dennis wanted corned beef, tiny potatoes, and cabbage, so I made it all in my Instant Pot, which was quite successful. It takes longer than you would think though, for a pressure cooker meal: nearly 2 hours in all!
I’ve been doing a bit of sewing lately, trying to get caught up on a few of my BOMs. The Celebrate America 250 sew-along apparently drags out F.O.R.E.V.E.R, so I decided to get started on making all the 6-inch blocks. I’ve completed the 3-inch ones, so there is no reason not to keep going, whether I am on the same schedule as the sew-along or not. The blocks in the photo above are the first that I have made in that size.
Eva spent the night over the past weekend, and as you can see, Archie is never far from her side. In fact, he is usually physically upon her in one way or another every minute. This picture was taken on Sunday morning when she wasn’t quite awake yet and just wanted a few minutes to collect herself. Nope, not allowed.

How sweet is the photo of sleepy Eva with Archie making the most of a snuggle opportunity?! When did she get so wonderfully tall (I ask from my 5’1″)?

Very interesting to find out that having corned beef for a meal on St. Patrick’s Day is a myth. I wonder where that came from? 🤔 The blocks for your sew a long are very cute, I think I would be sewing ahead of schedule. I’m sure you enjoyed having Eva spend the night. Archie looks happy.
I wonder at celebrating America with a year long quilt doesn’t give you something to use this July. I looked at this one but reminded myself that I have at least 2 RWB quilt tops that need finishing. I will get one of them ready in time for the 4th!
Never was a fan of corned beef and cabbage so it’s no loss for me!
