Update and Another Quilt Back From the Quilter

First an update on my husband's situation:  Things are not going at all well. He is still unable to stand or walk and now is experiencing a lack of coordination in his hands and arms. His speech is also affected. The back surgery was successful, but the doctors think there is some underlying medical condition that is causing all this havoc. He is having a brain scan MRI and a neurologist will meet with us today to discuss what is going on. I'll try to keep you updated. I appreciate your kind words, thoughts and prayers more than I can say.

The following was written last weekend and set to post today.

Another full-size quilt back from being quilted. This is Summer Baskets from Susan Ache's book Summer Memories.

This quilt was bit tedious to make, with all those half square triangles. I am a flying geese girl and much prefer that unit to hsts. The finished results are pretty spectacular though, and who doesn't love a basket quilt?

I used a variety of fabrics from Minick and Simpson and am so glad to have this quilt using their collections. They are retiring and won't be coming out with any more fabric groups. I will miss them so much.

This quilt will be so pretty on a bed in the summer. Let's hope I get it bound by then! lol

This post was set to post automatically. I am not home in real-time right now.

  22. Nicole, I thought I did another post, but guess I did not send it. Since you are an avid reader & pod caster, I wonder if you watch Ann Patchett’s posts on FB. She is a well known author & does posts from her bookstore in Nashville, called Parnassus Books. I love her posts & she energizes her audience to read the books she & her staff select.

  23. I had Guillain Barre when I was 30 and 8 1/2 months pregnant. I am in a fairly rural area but a new young doctor had just been hired. He was my savior.
We also had three young children at home. I entered the hospital the day before Halloween and left the day before Christmas. My parents were a godsend as my husband had to work.
The baby girl was fine and so was I. Lots of PT.
I am now 83 and have no signs of an illness..
It can be scary but just take one day at a time.
I have also been quilting for 45 years. God Bless.
