Time to Clear Off the Design Wall!

It is time for me to clear off the design wall and get going on some Halloween UFOs. This little quilt is finished except for the borders. The fabrics are all from the Fat Quarter Shop Designer Mystery 2024 block of the month. I never actually made the quilt blocks from the project because I didn't like the setting. The fabric collection is My Summer House by Bunny Hill.

Having all that fabric sitting around was making me feel guilty, and I wanted to come up with something to use it up. I ended up using the fabric in Erica Arndt's 2025 Sew With Me project, which features 10-inch framed blocks in a cute setting with a bow pieced into the top border. Erica has published 8 blocks so far, some of which I used. I also used two 12-inch blocks that I had made previously. I put those in the center, and I like how they fit in, even though they are not framed like the others.

I am going to put this top away for now and wait a few months until Erica features a tutorial on how to do the borders and finish the quilt.

Hello? What's this? I was scrolling though my Instagram photos the other day and found this photo of a quilt top I made back in 2022. Where on earth was it? I rummaged around for some time and finally found it at the bottom of a bin of flimsies that I need to send out for quilting. I had totally forgotten all about this pretty little quilt, which would be lovely to have out this time of year.

The fabrics are Cozy Up by Corey Yoder. (She really needs to do more collections in these colors). The pattern is from the book Rollin' Along, a Moda Bake Shop publication compiled by Lissa Alexander. The pattern is called Family Reunion. The book is meant to feature all patterns that can be made from jelly rolls. I did not use a jelly roll for my quilt, so keep in mind you could use a fat eighth bundle as I did.

Well, this one is being sent off to be quilted asap. I may not be able to use it this fall, but it will be waiting for me. I must make way too many quilts for my brain to keep track of them all. I guess it isn't really a problem.

  1. Love the top quilt! You always manage to make something work in juggling patterns and fabrics. Glad you are gettng the second one quilted. It deserves to be done and seen!

  2. Nice to have those flimsies and am so glad you found that delicious quilt that will soon be quilted.
Your 2011 quilt caught my eye and it’s a delightful autumn quilt. Hope you still have this quilt as it’s delightful!
    Hugs!

  3. I do like the colors in the Family Reunion. And I agree Corey needs to do another collection in these. I have Lori Holt’s book with her Granny quilt waiting in the wings.

  4. Both quilts are lovely 😍 I have a container of tops I need to finish – guess that goes with being a quilter 🤣

  5. This is a beautiful flimsy, glad you dug it up again to be quilted and soon snuggled under! I added this photo to my inspiration board (well, word document) because I’d love to make something like this. Thanks so much for sharing where the pattern is from! Also I agree, an abundance of quilts and quilt ideas and quilty WIPs is an excellent problem to have!

  6. lol…..scrolling in IG and you see a quilt you made and forgot about? I FEEL SEEN. I’ve done similar. I actually remember this quilt and loved it then and love it now. off to the quilter you go!
