My third UFO is a finish! It has been way too long that my Red Pineapple quilt has been waiting for its binding, so I made it a priority to finish. I am happy to say that I got the job done. It took two days, but I am happy with my new technique.

The “new technique” is just tackling one side of a big quilt at a time when doing machine binding. I press and clip one side, then sew it down, then press and sew the next side. It just makes handling a big quilt easier for me.

I admit I warmed up by sewing the binding on my Christmas Buffalo Check runner. Those smaller pieces are so much easier to handle! And what do you know, another UFO binding done.

There is a good look at the underside of the binding and the beautiful quilting.

We had a lovely Halloween at my son-in-law Ryan’s house. We managed to get a quick photo of Eva and her beau before they set off trick-or-treating. She is Coraline and he is Wybie. To tell you the truth, I am not sure who those characters are, but I’m old.

What a great feeling it must be to finish 2 projects . Just in time for the holidays too.
Beautiful!
To tell you the truth, I was all set to make that Buffalo Check runner when I discovered the finished one I had made a year or so ago in my pile of quilts that need binding. I am losing my mind I swear. It was a happy discovery, though, and I will use it this holiday season!
Wow, your quilt is gorgeous!! Love it! I’m old too, never heard of those characters. Lol
Seriously, how do I miss so many current trends? It turns out there was a movie called Coraline and her friend Wybie was a much loved character.
um, Coraline is from at least 20 yrs ago? It’s kinda dark. I can’t believe it was a children’s movie? It is good but man is it dark at time.
Ok, you got through the first three. Time for the next….don’t lose your momentum now. You are inspiring me.
I think I am going to list three more UFOs as my next priorities! I love this system for getting things finished.
Fantastic! They both are beautiful and finished, ready for Xmas! It just feel great.
Thanks Marie!
Your pineapple quilt is stunning!! Great to be able to use it, right? And now you have a table runner for the upcoming holidays! Getting those projects to the finish line is very rewarding!!
Both of those projects will be seeing lots of use this holiday season.
I LOVE your pineapple quilt!! I want to make one so bad, it’s stunning in those colors!! I have not a clue who the characters are, I’m old. We didn’t have any trick or treaters, we live in a development and I guess the kids are getting too old. Even our granddaughters didn’t come, I guess they have their friends to go with, makes grandma sad.
If you make a pineapple quilt, consider paper piecing for the most accurate results. Creative Grids also has a ruler that is good.
Congrats on the binding finishes! Your quilt & runner both look great! Eva & her beau look adorable (the picture without the mask). But, I’m also ‘old’ & have no idea who those character would be! Cheers to a productive week!
I’ve got my cute notebook out and am ready to make some new lists!
I love, love, LOVE that red pineapple quilt!!!!!!!
Thanks Carol. I wanted to make one for years and finally got it done. It took a ton of fabric!
Gorgeous Nicole! Congratulations on a beautiful finish!
Can you remind me what pattern you used?
Thanks!
For the Pineapple quilt, I used a terrible ruler by Possibilites, which I do not recommend. Creative Grids has a better ruler, or paper piecing might give you even more accurate blocks.
The Christmas runner is a pattern by Carried Away Quilting. I think it is just called Buffalo Check Runner.
Super finish! Love the warm red tones – and the table runner is cute! I’ve heard of Coraline (probably due to my son liking that sort of thing) but not Wybie. I’m sure they had a fun time for sure!
Supposedly, he is the geeky companion/friend to Coraline. I hadn’t heard of either one of those characters!
I love both….I Have the pineapple paper I just haven’t done it yet. oy!
That pineapple quilt is luscious. Wish I were younger – I would start one.
