I haven’t done too much sewing this week because I’ve had to travel to the Bay Area for my eye injections and was gone for a couple of days. This weekend looks busy as well because we will be having a house guest. I probably won’t post Friday either due to my schedule. Eva is having a water polo scrimmage game and her other grandma is making the trip up here to watch her play. She will stay with us for a couple of days, which will be fun.
So, that’s what’s happening here. The weather has taken a fallish turn for sure, which is making me want to make soup. I think this weekend I will make split pea and ham. Here is the link. Skinnytaste has been my go to site for finding Weight Watchers-friendly recipes that really deliver on flavor. Gina always gives the WW point value, which is so handy if you follow their program. I have done splendidly on their regimen and am happy to have found something easy to follow.
You know, I was fine at my previous weight. I was at the high end of “normal” for my height, but I kept thinking if I lost the 10 pounds I put on last Christmas, my clothes would look better. So I started Weight Watchers and reached my goal weight, but kept going to lose a bit more for “insurance.” I am really happy with where I am now and hope I can maintain it!
So, back to sewing. I love working with the Poinsettia and Pear fabric by Sheri and Chelsi. I don’t know why it has taken me so long to get on board with their collections. I used to shy away from bright cheerful colors, and that is exactly what they have to offer. I am embracing color lately! The photo at the top of the post is of the two most recent blocks I finished. All of the blocks have a star theme, and the fabric is Christmas themed, so I am in love with how they are turning out.

Here are all six blocks that I have made thus far. There will be twelve altogether, and they will be set with a simple lattice with pieced corner stones. It should come together quickly. I have no plan to finish it by this Christmas, but next year I will be able to enjoy it.

Real quick before I sign off, I want to mention this trim tool again. The Clearly Perfect Slotted Trimmer set. You get one in half-inch increments and one in full-inch increments. It is a half-square triangle trimmer that you line up with the seam line of your unpressed HST. It is very accurate, and especially great if you plan to press your seams open. I think it is a time saver over the BlocLoc and have been reaching for it all the time lately.
I hope you all are having a great week. Check back Monday and see what I’ve been up to!

You really do find the best paterns and fabric!
Have a great weekend!
Lovely blocks. Certainly pretty fabric too. I think we all enjoy a break from the usual colours and play with brighter ones. So cheerful, especially as winter approaches faster now.
Those blocks are beautiful. The only problem I have with the slotted ruler is getting the blade into the slot straight! I know I’m messing up the blade because I can hear it sometimes, but it is a good tool.
Have a nice weekend with your family. My sister-in-law and hubby are visiting us for a long weekend.
I agree about the slotted feature. I never bother to use that. I just cut the dog ears off at an angle while I am trimming the unit, and it’s fine.
Poinsettia & Pear fabric is so pretty! I really like the fussy cut center in the new block on the right. Enjoy your weekend with your family!
Your quilt blocks are just perfect and so festive, it is certainly going to be a festive holiday quilt! There are so many tools out there that make trimming the blocks so much easier. I haven’t seen this particular one.
Have a nice weekend!
have a great weekend….those cheerful colors are wonderful! did your maple tree drop her leaves yet?? that’s the real test of whether the season is changing. ;p
so nosey, I know, but did it turn out that you do have to pay that exorbitant co-payment for your eye injections? I kept thinking about it and can’t believe that’s accurate on Medicare. regular insurance? oh yeah. It must be a mistake? we’ve stashed some money away for medical emergencies but it’s never enough, is it?
That tree in our backyard is pretty reliable to drop its leaves around the first week in November. They are starting to turn though!
Yes, I do have to pay $469 every time I get my eye injections. That is 20% of the cost apparently. We are looking into some kind of extra coverage, but it is so confusing.
