You may recall me posting about getting up my courage to send another quilt off to my quilter in Florida. She is such a lovely person and I have used her for years. She did all she could to help me recover my loss when USPS lost the previous quilt I sent to her. I definitely don’t want her to think I blame her in any way and want to keep giving her my business.
The quilt I sent to her this time was a Halloween panel quilt made from a Stacey Iest Hsu collection for Moda. I absolutely loved the panel images and the creative way they were surrounded by coordinating fabrics in the quilt top.
My quilter was so tickled with the pantograph she chose that she sent me a photo while the quilt was still on the long arm machine. I just love what she did here. The design is called Flower Web a rose inside a spider web. You can see the design better in the diagram below.

I am now completely motivated to get this top finished and send it out to be quilted in the Flower Web pantograph!
The weather is still miserably hot here in the low 100’s. The Gann fire is at 40% containment and some people have been allowed back into their properties. A number of families have lost their homes entirely, which is just tragic. My heart goes out to everyone who has been affected by this senseless disaster.
Someone, I think it was Ginny, suggested retail therapy as a way to get my mind off things last week. I did take Eva to the Target and shopping mall an hour away from us in Modesto for Back to School clothing and school supplies shopping. I spent a lot of money (it was her birthday present from us), and she got just what she wanted. She knows what she likes and what looks good on her, which is pretty much everything. And she certainly did not want my advice, so I let her alone to make her choices. Her taste runs to skimpy spaghetti strap tops and baggy low rise jeans, and we have that look covered. Her dad practially had a heart attack when he saw the photos I sent. He is going to have to perfect his stern dad technique to keep the boys in line. Just saying…

Ths halloween quilt is on my ToDo list. I admire your piecing, and hope I can also do this quilt justice…so far, I just look at it, as I try to finish other projects.
I am relieved you have not been a victim of the fires…families losing everything is incredibly sad.
LOL! Poor Eva’s dad! She’s a pretty girl in whatever she wears, he already know he has his work cut out! So pleased you were able to get out and just enjoy it all together after so much stress. Fabulous that the quilt came back with a lovely design too. It’s cute and no spiders for arachnophobics. I don’t think anyone would blame the quilter and she did a lovely job of the latest one.
I’m sure you and Eva had a wonderful time together school shopping. I miss shopping for the school supplies. The teen girl clothes shopping, not so much. (I have 3 girls.) 😁
The Halloween quilt is delightful and the Rose Web panto is perfect. I’m sure it was nerve wracking to send another quilt off to be quilted, but what a relief to have it arrive safely home. Hey Boo will be wonderful with the same panto.
Applause for sending & receiving your quilt! The design highlights that cute Halloween fabric! School shopping sounds like it was just what you both needed! New clothes are perfect for a teen’s birthday gift. And, who doesn’t love new school supplies? My heart goes out to the folks who had to evacuate then return to ruins. What a helpless feeling that must be. 😢

yes, I’ve been teen shopping. it is rough and expensive. you want them to fit in with their friends and wear what’s fashionable but my goodness I struggled. I guess every older generation says this about the younger generation?
Hopefully, Eva is so busy swimming she won’t be smitten with teenage boys too soon! Those teenage hormones can get the best of our teenagers before they are ready for long term relationships–this said by a mother of four and grandmother of 14. My sister married at 19 due to a pregnancy. This was such an example to me since I was much younger. I determined not to have this happen to me!

I am much relieved to read your blog today. I will admit watching for it all weekend because I was a bit worried about your fire danger. So much better to take Eva shopping than to be in a shelter because of a fire at your house! There are so many people in fire danger right now! My heart goes out to those who have lost their homes and jobs to fires. I just read about the earthquake in Columbia. I have so much to be thankful for!
