I finished the last Riley Blake Challenge 2026 block this week. Woo hoo! I am not sure how I will set these 16 blocks, but will come up with something eventually. Right now, they are going to take a rest.

These are all the blocks and I am so pleased, both with their complexity and attractiveness. The annual Riley Blake Challenges are so great for improving your skills. They are certainly a step above average!
My next sewing goal is to get three Halloween-themed quilts off to the quilter. I have been procrastinating sending my work off to my quilters since the USPS disaster of them destroying three of my quilts (one full-sized sampler quilt and two smaller table toppers). They also refused to pay the insurance based on the fact that I could not provide a receipt for those finished one-of-a-kind works of art from a retailer. Don’t get me started.
Anyway, I am figuring that such a nightmare mishap couldn’t possibly happen to one quilter in a lifetime am set to send off more quilts for quilting.
Dennis and I are off for a little getaway to California’s Napa Valley Wine Country for the next few days. My winemaker son-in-law told us to expect $50-100 tasting fee charges at some of the more well-known wineries! Um, I think if that is what we find when we enter the establishments, we will be making a hasty exit.
Hope to send you some updates when we are on the road!

Have a fun trip! All the blocks look great!
Beautiful blocks! Riley Blake certainly does offer some great blocks, definitely skill builders.
Enjoy your getaway!
Gorgeous blocks!
For many years now, based on advice from someone who worked at the little Post Office that I used to go to, I take a picture of what I am sending, and I make sure that the picture shows the item in the box before I seal the box up. I take pictures of just the item, I take a picture of the mailing label, anything that would help document the fact that I’m actually mailing it off. I suppose if I wanted to be really persnickety, I could ask the mail clerk to pose with my box and a cheesy grin for further proof. 🤣
I imagine that the Postal Service has to insist on some level of proof somehow to avoid the countless people who would simply claim that they mailed something that was worth $500 when it was $.99 at a thrift store.
I’m still sick the thought of what happened to your quilt, but hopefully it’s the same kind of situation I imagined when I bought my little house in Hamilton, Missouri, 15 years ago. It used to be a one-room schoolhouse and once had a couple of wooden structures in the backyard that were something to do with team sports back when it was not a backyard but a schoolyard. Those wooden structures were now gone, and my old neighbor told me that they had been wiped out by a tornado many years before I ever moved there. So I figured I didn’t need to worry about tornadoes ever hitting my house; that had already happened and it wasn’t going to happen again. And as of my selling the house two years ago, no tornadoes have shown up.
So you should be good to go for a very long time now. 🥰🥰🥰
