  1. Nicole we are always so hard on ourselves for just relaxing and resting our bodies. I always think I should be doing something productive too. This past weekend I read “Someone at a Distance” by Dorothy Whipple. Could not put it down! It was so good. Thanks for the book recommendation.

    1. Isn’t that book brilliant? Dorothy Whipple was decades ahead of her time with her observations of marriages and the individuals in them. People in the 1940s and 50s just didn’t discuss things on that kind of personal level. She must have been hard to read back then. Nowadays, we eat it up!

  2. What a lovely view. A lovely way to spend relaxing after all the appointments. Archie looks well chilled too! LOL!

    1. Dennis goes back next week for his infusion treatments and medical appointments. He is going on his own this time! I will be glad to stay home with Archie and maybe get some sewing done!

  3. Sounds like the best type of weekend! We often forget that doing absolutely nothing but enjoying the day and staying in our pajamas, is the best reset we can do for ourselves.❤️ Enjoy!

  4. It is so beautiful here. There is a huge controversy going on up here where we stay. There used to be a gorgeous restaurant right on the lake just across the road from the place we have our timeshare. It had amazing views, great food and fun cocktails. We had been going there for over 20 years to enjoy the view and ambiance. It was purchased by ultra-rich Larry Ellison, torn down, and demolished. He has a huge project going on to build a hotel and restaurant that will only be available to the ultra-rich guests who can afford to stay there. No access for the public anymore. Citizens are up in arms on the subject of public access because so much of the lakefront has been acquired by individuals who don’t permit the public on the property. Everywhere we go, people are arguing about it!

  5. Living in Sacramento, we are so lucky to have this jewel in our back yard. We have spent many vacations there. No matter the time of year, no matter the weather, it never disappoints. So glad you got a chance to get away and relax.

  6. The views and photos you send from Lake Tahoe are always beautiful. Haven’t been there in over 30 years, but when we did go back then we always loved it. Archie looks like he is relaxing well at home, too!

  7. Staying in your PJ’s all day sounds absolutely heavenly!!! So glad you just rested. We should all take time to just do nothing! I have fond memories of Tahoe from 30 years ago. Have a great week Nicole!

    1. I feel so decadent. We went out for lunch and ordered French Toast and bacon. Dennis brought his laptop and is doing some work, and I’ve been reading non-stop. We have really done nothing except sit around!

  8. Nicole,
Having grown up in the Sacramento area, I miss being so close to Lake Tahoe. And I agree with Kerry L – staying in your PJs all day does sound wonderful!

    1. It is a rare occurrence for me not to get dressed and made up. Also very rare for me not to accomplish a darn thing day after day. I will make up for it next week when I am home again, but for now it’s great.

  9. What lovely surroundings to enjoy on your get-away and how wise to bring books to enjoy if/when the mountain weather is too cold, too wet, or both. What bliss.
Nice to have a PJ day once in a while, too!
Here’s to as much relaxing as is possible!
We have another rainy day here.

    Hugs!

  10. What a lovely break for the two of you. Re: doing nothing — when I still had an active counseling practice, I offered my patients an alternative perspective. Not “I’m doing nothing” but “I recognized I need to slow down so I’m doing self care”.

  11. I echo everything the commenters above say! There’s much to be said for do-nothing days. We need to re-charge our batteries every now & then, so no guilt allowed! And, congratulations to Dennis for being able to drive himself to his infusion appointment! That’s huge compared to where the two of you were not so long ago!

    1. Yes, he has been able to accomplish so much during the past year. He may not ever be “normal” again, but we are so grateful that he is able to be independent for the most part.

  12. Sounds wonderful to me….so glad Archie has bonded with the sitter. Hurray for Dennis! He’s driving himself and getting himself settled in the hotel by himself. That is a dramatic step forward.

I LOVE doing nothing all day except things I enjoy. Enjoy the rest of your visit.

  13. Sounds like a wonderful, peaceful, relaxing time. I hope you enjoyed every moment! Archie looks like he is enjoying the humming bird! 🍁🧡🍁

  14. Archie is having a great time. I doubt he has really registered that we are away. He’s happy as long as someone is paying attention to him, he gets his walks, and he’s in his familiar territory.

  15. Looks beautiful and Archie looks so happy! Just love his fluffy little self! Glad you are all enjoying your little getaway!
