I've got two quilts off to be quilted today, so I am feeling very happy about that. The one in the photo above is the smaller of my two Moda Blockheads 3 quilts. I was dithering about what to do about a border and finally decided to just keep it simple.
I had 30 inches of the background fabric left, which meant I could do a very narrow border. I decided not to do a print border because I want all the attention to be on the blocks. This little border is 3 1/2 inches wide (will finish at 3"). I will use my red fabric from the cornerstones as a binding, which I think will be enough of a frame. This quilt measures around 57 x 67- a nice lap quilt size.
Wow, I am so glad I took that gigantic quilt Moda Blockheads 3 apart and put together two quilts from the blocks! The second quilt will be bed-sized. I think I have the border for that one figured out as well, and I will be keeping it the cream color of the lattices I used. I want to get that one finished in the next few days and will show a photo when I do.

This is my little Cabins in the Trees runner, which will be so nice to have this fall. I can just see it on my hall table with a sage green or gold candle. The pattern is actually called Base Camp and is by Sweetwater. The pattern is for a full size quilt, but I made it smaller.
Regarding yesterday's post: I haven't really lost my sewing mojo, but I am feeling a bit overwhelmed by the number of projects I have going on at once. I enjoy variety and don't mind switching from one project to another, but I am at the point where I have a dozen things in progress and not much to show for it.
I guess it's time to focus and get some things actually done!
I did get two quilts back from the quilter this week and can't wait to share those with you tomorrow!

Beautiful sampler quilt; I love it without the color border. I am doing a lot of quilts in the same fashion.
The cabin/tree runner is darling. Is this your idea or a purchased pattern?
Lovely quilts. I agree either the plain border. I am partial to simpler borders sometimes.
I am very glad you mentioned multiple long arm quilters. I used the same quilter for decades. She is now having lots of problems. She started falling apart in February. So I have a backlog of quilt tops dating back five months. (It was hard to know what to do. I am glad I waited, but it is clear something is really wrong)
I found three other long arm quilters in my area with very good skills. I am utilizing all three of them. If I find a couple more with good skill levels, I will utilize them too. (We have a shocking number of long arm quilters in my area, but not all of them are good.)
Love the Moda blockheads top. It will be so sweet when it’s completed. I think the simple border is fine. Loved seeing Archie on the porch the other day. I am the same way with my needlepoint. I have way too many in the queue and several in process. I have to slow down because I can’t afford all the framing and finishing!
I understand the feeling of being overwhelmed by too many projects. Last year I took all my finished tops, looked them over and made a priority list. Actually two piles, one pile each of items I could quilt myself and a pile that needed to be longarmed. Every other month I sent one to the longarmer. I only have one left in that pile. Then since the other pile had much smaller projects I worked them into the rotation of new projects. Had to finish an old project before I started a new one, but had to totally finish the new projects first. I have found that we don’t need large quilts anymore so I concentrate on smaller projects or change the size on patterns I like.
The plain border will be just right when you add the red binding. The blocks definitely should be the ‘stars’ of the show without a distracting border. That runner is going to look great in the Fall!
that simple border is just perfect. let those blocks shine! looking forward to seeing what you share tomorrow. a quilted quilt is the best.
