Well, That Was Fun

The first Moda Blockheads 4 block was a winner! Lynne Hagemeier of Kansas Troubles designed this 9" block. I made it up using Fig Tree & Company's Pumpkin Blossoms fabrics, which are going to be great for this project. This collection has a high number of background fabrics with small and subtle color additions that coordinate with the oranges, greens, and charcoal greys in the main prints.  I think it will be an interesting quilt when finished. I really like mixing up backgrounds in a quilt.

How about you, did you get your block made? There is a Moda BlockHeads FaceBook group with lots of folks showing photos of their blocks and fabric choices. Also, #modablockheads4 on Instagram will get you lots of inspiration.

I sure do appreciate these free blocks and sew-alongs. The designers put in a lot of work and I think they should get much praise and credit. Many of them are promoting a new line of fabric or a book, etc., but I think it is wonderful that such talented quilters can get together and organize a wonderful sew-along project such as this. If they get some benefit from doing it, all the better.

My girl got to go to the hairdresser's last week for a trim. I tell you, that girl has a head of hair. I have to remind myself that it took over two years for any of it to sprout on her little bald head when she was a baby…

  1. Nicole-Eva is turning into a little beauty, and one that looks like she is just as beautiful on the inside. Every time you post her picture she looks different! My daughter didn’t have much hair as a 2 year old, either, and now has a great head of hair as well. Hmmmm…..
Enjoy your day. It’s raining cats and dogs here in New Hampshire and predicted to do so for the rest of today and into tomorrow. Oh how we are all lonnging for Spring to arrive! Hugs to Ollie!

  2. Eva is becoming such a pretty young lady! It’s hard to believe we’ve ‘known’ her since she was born! Enjoy every minute you spend with her! I like your first block. The colors in the collection look nice together!

  3. I was positive my daughter was going to wear a wig to kindergarten but now she has the best hair in the family!

  4. she is gorgeous! WE should all have that beautiful hair.
I love Fig Tree background fabrics. My only complaint is that they are usually directional. 🙁 I prefer otherwise. ;p
    Have a lovely weekend.
