My Latest Distraction

My latest distraction from reorganizing my sewing room is this little mini quilt in the Corn and Beans block.  I got my little pieces all cut out and sorted with my Alphabitties.  If you don't have Alphabitties, you might want to consider adding some to your collection of sewing notions.  They are double sided plastic squares labeled with the letters of the alphabet, so you can keep multiple block units all clearly organized.  There is nothing worse than grabbing your C triangles, when the ones you meant to sew together were the F and G triangles.  These little squares help you out with that.

This is as far as I got yesterday.  Today I hope to finish the border of flying geese and maybe even get it quilted.

Yesterday was a big day.  I got new canvas covers for my retractible awnings that shade my front and back porches.  One of them in particular was completely shredded in the bad storms we had this past winter.  They are colossally expensive, but have a ten year warranty, so we should be good for awhile.

It was such a gorgeous day I sat outside with my book instead of sewing.  There is always tomorrow…

  2. Oh those beautiful days when we are able to read and read are just the best! I’m jealous! Have a good one, Nicole.

  3. Your Corn and Beans blocks is perfect! Love the Alphabitties, too.
Yes, we call delightful spring weather “Louisville days” as our 10 y long, hot years in TX made us really appreciate pleasant spring weather! Enjoy!!
    Hugs!

  4. Your porches are so inviting! I understand why you’d abandon the sewing room to sit out there & read! It’s still a bit too chilly here for that, but the temps are beginning to rise little by little.

  5. I wanna sit on your porch and enjoy a glass of wine with you it looks so comfty there!
Cute little quilt and I love alphabitties. I recently bought a new pack because they are so handy. What I do is to use clover clips to clip them to the fabrics. And I also use clover clips to keep them in alphabetic order in the package … nothing worse then to sort through them all to find the right letters you need. Now all I need is some ‘numberbitties’ wish FQS would make them.

  6. I take it you’re happy with your awning. Is it motorized? We’re considering getting that for our deck. I would love a porch roof but not in the budget.
