I am on such a donation kick. I can't tell you how good it makes me feel to give away these quilts that otherwise wouldn't be enjoyed by anyone. Giving a quilt to a child who is ill or a senior who has Alzheimer's can bring a breath of joy into a life that is otherwise not so bright and joyous.
Do any of you remember these pretty blue and yellow blocks? I started them probably three years ago and packed them away because I really have no use for anything in these colors. But I'll bet it will brighten the day of someone, somewhere. I am thinking this might be a good quilt to donate to the Alzheimers organization, Quilted Comforts. They have very specific size requirements though, so I am trying to figure out how to make it just a bit larger. I had some leftover 21 inch strips from the fat quarters I used to make the blocks, which I think I can link together and use as a narrow outside border. I am aiming for a quilt that is 52 inches wide (their minimum size). I've got the rows sewn together, just need to connect the rows and add the narrow border and send it off.
The Alzheimer's group wants good sized lap quilts that can also be used as a topper for a twin sized bed.

Lovely colors and delightful quilt and you’re right, it will bring joy to someone who has Alzheimer’s and warm fuzzies to their families. When my sweet mother lost her marbles to Alzheimer’s, she still enjoyed the colors and patterns of the quilt on her bed. Truth be told, it was a purchased quilt because the laundry at the facility use a brutal amount of bleach in the laundry loads.

The scrappy border looks really nice. I made that pattern to donate to a friend’s breast cancer walk team raffle. Isn’t it a nice feeling to know you’re doing something that will bring a bit of happiness to someone? 😎
