Voting Day

So, today I will post photos of the nine quilt layouts I experimented with for Sara's Log Cabin quilt.  I would love it if you all would vote on your best guess as to which layout Sara should choose for her quilt.  On Friday, I will post the name of the person who first chimed in correctly with the layout that Sara likes best.  I will have a little giveaway prize to send to that person.

The layout # and name will be below the photo.  Here we go:

  1. So many to choose from….but I think that Sara will go with the #5 barn raising layout. I think it’s tradition but with a modern edge to it.

  2. I think she might go for the traditional #1. There’s a good reason why the tried and true patterns get used over and over again!

  3. Nicole, I missed your post yesterday asking for suggestions for other layouts as I was traveling. I didn’t realize you were considering a contemporary slant for the quilt. What about the barn raising layout (#5)with the center of the quilt moved toward the upper left corner? It presents a very strong graphic image, slightly asymmetrical but still balanced.

  4. I think # 5 will be her choice….er, maybe it’s also the one I’d choose. Wonderful to have these choices– all so gorgeous.

  5. ok i am voting she loves #3. i hope I am right! Have a great day. This was fun for us and a lot of work for you Nicole. Thanks!
    Mary

  6. I like several but #9 is a new one to me – I think it is modern looking so she might choose that one. The blocks are beautiful!

  7. I vote for Number 1, Squares but then they are all beautiful!
You are a wonderful Mom (and Grandmother too!) and not only will your daughter love your quilt but kudos to you for rearranging your blocks 9 times so all your readers could live vicariously with the process!

  8. I’m going to go with layout #2; followed closely by #3! It will be fun to see what Sara chooses! You’ve done a great job & the quilt will be beautiful!

  9. This wasn’t easy but I did make up my mind, finally. (Dad helped!) I’m so excited to see my new quilt on my bed when it’s all finished, just in time for the warmer months. Thank you, mom!!!

  10. My vote is for #2, Squares with a frame. I think it would look great on a bed. I love all of your quilts. Patty

  11. Number 8, radiating Star. But to tell you the truth, I like all of them. Can’t go wrong with a Log Cabin block:)
    Will be a beautiful quilt.

  12. #4- furrows for my first choice, #7- snail trail for a really close second- so inspiring- just started a red, white and blue log cabin quilt because of your post

  13. Ok. . . since there is no way that I can be the first (after all there are already 50 comments!) I am going to vote for the two that I like. . . .
    #2
    #6
You came up with a couple of layouts that I would not have thought about. . . so thank you very much for that!
    Have a stress free day!

  14. I’m going with #5, I have seen similar ones with an offset pattern and they were very effective.
Whichever one is chosen, I’m sure it will be beautiful. Way to gol
    Marge

  15. Layout 2 is what I would choose. Got my 26 year old daughter to have a look she chose 2 as well. All are beautiful. Love the fabric choice!

  16. Choosing #6 by far the best complete design, Always love Barn Raising but too common a favorite among quilters. Also #9 is interesting. 8 is too busy. 7 needs more blocks to be effective. But keep up your fabulous work. You always inspire me.

  17. Hi Nicole, I like layout 8, the radiating stars, but whichever Sara has chosen will be great. You have shown great patience trying all those different layouts.

  18. #5 Barnraising would be my choice but would it be Sara’s choice….what ever she picks, your blocks will be beautiful in the quilt for her.

  19. Oh my gosh…they all are so nice and guess I won’t be the first of any one of them but love number #8….very different and not sure why it is catching my eye. Will be very interested to see who of us is on the mark. Thanks Nicole ;)))

  20. I vote for #5 barn raising. It looks great with a 2 (plus red centers) colour quilt or a multi coloured
    Half with a plain opposite.

  21. #5 Barn Raising is my favorite. Making this decision is why I have a love/hate relationship with making log cabin quilts!!
