The Postman Always Rings Twice

Ding Dong.  Ding Dong.  Well, it wasn’t the postman, it was the Fed Ex guy, but he did ring twice.  When I went to the door, he was staggering under the weight of a gigantic and heavy cardboard box that said JJill on the sides.  Hmmm, I don’t remember ordering anything from JJill, but hey, that’s OK, I love their clothes!  No, it wasn’t from JJill after all, it was from Lisa!!!!  All right!  This has to be something really good.  And it was.

Lisa had packed up and sent me all her leftover Cinnamon Stars fabric from our Sampler Challenge project.  About 50 pounds of leftover fabrics, all washed, pressed and ready to be made into a glorious project.  Not just teensy little scraps and trimmings, but great big generous cuts of fabric.  Plenty of fabric to make maybe more than just one quilt.  You didn’t hear it from me, but Lisa tends to overbuy fabrics when she is making something.  Shhhh.  It works for me, obviously!

Isn’t this positively gorgeous?  I’m not even showing it all.  You can’t GET this fabric anymore!  Wow.  Thank you my friend.  I definitely owe you one.

Added later:  So many of you commented on how lucky I am to have such a terrific friend.  I could not agree more!  I should also add that Lisa doesn’t actually *over buy* fabrics.  She plans ahead for shrinkage and other mysterious things that can happen and leave a person high and dry without enough fabric.  She likes to be sure she has enough for her projects.  Also, for the Cinnamon Stars fabric, she initially had planned to make TWO quilts, then changed her mind.  She is so generous!

  1. OK, stop it…. it was not 50 pounds of fabric, but yes, I did overbuy just a little. Well, I intended to make 2 quilts, but there are so many I want to make, I just didn’t love Cinnamon Stars enough to make 2. We won’t mention all the great stuff you have generously sent me (ahem – Poetry Collection – ahem). Turnabout is fair play, after all. Have fun! 🙂
