Explosion of Sampler Blocks

Lisa (Stashmaster) and I decided to wrap up this Sampler Challenge.  We are both going crazy with the slow pace we orginally agreed upon and want to get this one finished so we can move on to some other projects.  So both of us (she in Washington and me in California) sewed all weekend and look what we accomplished!  I have kind of lost track of which block number is which because I didn’t care for some of the block designs in the Sampler pattern book we are using, and subsituted others I liked better.  My number 7 block is shown above, and number 8 is just below.

I think this is where I started substituting blocks outside the pattern.  I love the more complicated center of this one.  Number 9:

Number 10:

I will spend tomorrow sewing with friends and hope to complete all the components for the lattice.  As soon as I get these blocks together I will post the photo of my finished quilt top.  Maybe next Monday if all goes according to plan!

  1. Oh wow – they turned out FABULOUS, Nicole! I can’t wait to see them together with your sashing. So pretty! I just love the substitutions you made, too, especially that first one. Very cool.

  2. You’ve been a busy girl – those blocks are beautiful and can’t wait to see the finished top. I know the feeling of wanting to finish something before I can move on to something else. It’s always a good feeling to “cross it off the list”

  3. My goodness…you’re on a roll, Nicole. Nice job on your blocks. I can’t wait to see what you’ve acomplished when I get back from vacation.

  4. I’ve been keeping an eye on your blog for a while now, love all the wonderful things you make, those Chocolate fabrics look great in the sampler blocks. I loved all your photos of your trip to Buggy Barn and can’t wait to visit there, I am planning a trip to Canada next year so will have to detour via the States, there looks so much to see.

  5. Your blocks are beautiful. I love how different they look from the blocks that Lisa has done just by the differences in colors. You both have a good eye for color, no wonder you are such good friends.
