Shopping!

My sister and I left the house bright and early for a lovely day of shopping and lunching, and I invite you to come along with us.  We covered a lot of territory and managed to cram quite a bit into our Saturday.  Our primary destination was a unique establishment in Soquel, called Wisteria.  Wisteria is part plant nursery, part antique store, part home decorating store, located within an old house and various out buildings, each room of which is decorated along some kind of theme.  Outside, things are arranged similarly, with various areas of the gardens set up as outdoor rooms.  The stylists who arrange all the merchandize are so talented.img_0602.jpg

The flowers in particular were so tempting, it was hard not to fill the car with them.  We spent a couple of happy hours browsing and dreaming of redecorating our homes and gardens, and then were off to lunch.  We drove a circuitous route to our lunch destination, which was the Seascape Resort.  We sat out on a sunny terrace and enjoyed this view while we dined:

After lunch, we drove on quiet country roads past fields of strawberries and artichokes back down the coast to Monterey.  It was a terrific day, leaving me feeling very grateful to live in an area where there is so much of interest and beauty, and especially for having a such a compatible sister with whom to enjoy it.

  1. What an incredible view! Wisteria is a sweet shop – how could one walk away without buying up everything in sight!
Thanks for describing your wonderful day with your sister – oh to have a sister to spend a day or two with. I have a bit of envy for you, Nicole. 🙂
    Thanks for sharing!

  2. Looks like it was a wonderful time. It is such a nice area around Carmel. We have been there twice now. Wisteria looks like it would be a nice place to live – rather than shop :))
Both times we were in Carmel we stayed at the Normandy Inn – 1993 and 2006 – hadn’t changed a bit. Lovely place to stay.

  3. Thank you for a wonderful wonderful wonderful weekend. My checkbook is still being petulant and whiney but my goodness was the shopping good. Not as good as the company though. :o)

  4. What could be better than a weekend hangover that is filled with good shopping and a petulant, whiney checkbook??? Bravo girls!
The pictures are beautiful. And that shop looks like it could make an credit card or checkbook cry uncle!
