Six Degrees in Progress

I have pieced two sections of my Six Degrees quilt, the center panel and one corner section.  There are 68 six inch blocks that surround the center panel, and the layout and stitching of the sections making up the quilt top is a bit of a production.  Somewhat tedious, in fact.  I think this is […]

Wild Irish Rose

A few months ago, while at the Pacific International Quilt Festival, I saw an unusual quilt at the Honey Run booth.  They had made up a gorgeous quilt that was a different version of the typical Irish Chain.  Instead of using the standard light colored background squares to set off the chain pattern, they used […]

Six Degrees

This Six Degrees quilt is one I started about a year ago and have recently been working on as part of my Banish the UFO’s promise made in February.  I have completed all the blocks, in pink, lime green and burgundy.  I apologize for the picture quality.  My flash gets away from me every now […]

Out of My Comfort Zone

My color palette is usually more subdued than the quilt in progress shown above.  So, to say that this project is a bit out of my comfort zone, would be accurate.  Reminiscent of a hot summer day in Provence, it is exuberant and cheerful and colorful.  And LOUD.  I struggled to come to terms with […]

Hour A Day Quilt

At my Banish the UFO’s sewing group yesterday, a couple of my friends held up the finished Hour a Day quilt so I could take a picture.  Sorry for the tables and machines in the foreground–they couldn’t get back any further.  The finished quilt has kind of a Mackenzie-Childs look to it, don’t you agree?

Trimming

Oh boy.  Trimming.  As mentioned in a previous post, I am participating in Judy Laquidara’s Quilt for an Hour a Day project and have completed twelve blocks.  The blocks have come together beautifully, but do require trimming down to size.  The little pile of bits shown in my picture represents a LOT of trimming time.  […]

Quilt For an Hour a Day

I have been having a lot of fun with an on-line project sponsored by Judy Laquidara of Sunshine Quilts.  Judy has created an original quilt design and has broken the construction down into one hour increments.  The idea is, you can create her quilt in approximately sixteen one hour installments.  Best of all, part of […]

Lots of Ways to Go Wrong

My goal for February has been to reduce my stash, purchase no new fabric, and finish up projects I had started but set aside when something more interesting came along.  Last weekend I dragged these blocks down from the shelf and decided it was time I pieced them together.  The fabric was from a kit […]

Inaugural Quilt Post

Welcome to my newly created blog!!!   I chose the name Sister’s Choice, not only because it is one of my favorite block patterns, but because I have four beautiful sisters who are my best friends in the world.  In addition, I see all of the women who love quilting as being a sisterhood connected by […]
