I've mentioned previously that Riley Blake is doing a Challenge Sew Along for 2025. Each week one of the Riley Blake designers submits a block pattern for the project. I have been playing along with it, but not keeping up very well, and substituting blocks when the weekly block doesn't suit me. This is the sixth block I have made, and is actually Block 10 in this year's line up.

The block I made over the weekend is Block 10 in this year's challenge. It is called Cat's Cradle and is designed by Janet Wecker-Frisch. I changed it up slightly by making the center square aqua instead of more white background as the pattern called for.
I didn't get much sewing done because I have been trying to empty out the upstairs shower of all the boxes I had loaded in it. My sewing room is almost put back together, but still needs organization.
And here is what my upstairs hallway looks like:

I am on my way to the Bay Area for another eye injection. My eye that has macular degeneration is remarkably improved. Better than I ever expected. I will stay with my sister Kate and her husband Robert, which is always a high point of my month! I plan to stop at Target on my way and pick up more of those white plastic storage bins they sell that work so well on shelves and in drawers. I love those things and must have dozens of them. I need them for my organization plan for the sewing room. Charm packs fit perfectly in the basket size shown below, and layer cakes fit perfectly in the square size that is double the one below.

I may have mentioned this previously. Instead of breaking down boxes for recycling, I take off our address labels, take a good photo of the whole stack, and list “moving/shipping boxes” on Facebook marketplace. They are usually gone in 1-4 hours.
The blocks are lovely.
Have a fun time with your sister. Glad your eyes are doing better.
You’re colors are always spot on! Beautiful block. Thanks for showing the picture of all the boxes.😁 I was beginning to think you were perfect!😉😂 I already feel like a sloth when I read how much you get accomplished. Safe drive to your sister’s and good luck with your eye appointment.❤️
Beautiful block! I have all of those block patterns and have not even started – sigh. Good luck with the unpacking. I recently moved, so I know how that feels. Also, good luck with the eye shots. I am glad to hear that they are working for you.
Enjoy your little trip– and hope the “injection” part (ouch!) goes well! I am loving everything you are working on right now– the Cali and Co. blocks are fabulous and I’m beyond tempted to break into my jolly bar (which I bought because the fat quarters were too expensive) and my Fat quarters (which I then bought anyway.) Have a great time.
Yes, best of luck and positive vibes for your eye appointment. Glad you can spend some time with your sister.
Your blocks are all so colorful and cheery!
You’ve been busy, for sure! Those blocks are turning out so pretty. I often see free moving boxes advertised & I’m sure someone would love to pick them up! I’ve said it thousands of times…macular degeneration needs to be treated immediately & the results are usually excellent. You’ve got the eye shot routine down pat & it certainly paid off for you! Enjoy time with your sister & her husband.
Your blocks are great! I haven’t done a sampler quilt in a long time, I may have to do some planning. Impressive stack of boxes, you’ve been busy! So glad that the eye injections are successful, thank goodness. I love the bins from Target and they look nice too. Hope all goes well with your appointment and you have a good visit with your sister. Take care!
