Not Too Bad

Well, this turned out somewhat better than I had expected.  With backing and batting and quilting, the light green background on this pumpkin table runner does look darker. My quilter used an adorable pumpkin vine quilting motif in green thread, which enhances the green background. It is still awfully subtle, but I guess it is liveable.  It is going to live at my daughter's house and she is totally happy with it.

It is a super cute pattern (Hocus Pocus by The Pattern Basket), but if you make it, be sure your background will provide enough contrast for those white pumpkins!  I sure wish I had done that. I can always make another one, right?

  1. Came out adorable and the quilting made it just POP so think this is just perfect! Love the light pumpkins and will look great on your table….nice job and you worried it wouldn’t look great….love it 🧡🧡

  2. I think I remember that you had second thoughts about the green background from the get go. What a nice surprise! You are totally on trend with the muted palettes that are so popular. Your daughter will love it.

  3. I think it turned out great! And I like the subtle effect too- gives it a different feel that is more autumnal than Halloween-ish.

  4. That’s the best part of giving a quilting project as a gift Nicole. You then get to make it again, if you really like it, with lessons learned. I have a white table and chair set with a white console in my dinette area of my house. Your pumpkin runner would be just right there, colorwise.

  5. The quilting really made it sing! The subtle colors make it interesting & different from the usual Halloween ones. 🎃 Sara will use it proudly, I’m sure! Stay well!

  6. It is just lovely! The quilting really does bring out the color. I guess we all learned something about not abandoning projects prematurely? Who am I kidding? ;p

  7. I think it’s gorgeous, has a sort of vintage vibe to it. I do like to make lower contrast projects for time to time. You’ve done a great job with the fabrics you chose, they blend together beautifully (IMHO). I’m happy to hear your daughter ❤️‘s it.

  8. This is absolutely adorable! I think the green is perfect with the white pumpkins. Fantastic choice for the quilting.
