Great Weekend

It's been a great weekend! We had a backyard family wedding, which went off without a hitch. Great weather, wonderful food, beautiful bride….everything was pretty perfect. Ryan, my winemaker (ex) son-in-law, was the officiant for his step-daughter's wedding, which made the occasion all the more meaningful. The newlyweds will be moving to Lincolnshire, England, where the bridegroom is serving in the military.

Eva is on the left in the photo above, standing next to her daddy, Ryan. She is wearing the dress we got last week for her to wear to her eighth-grade end-of-the-year dance. Have you shopped with a teenager lately? Every dress I picked out, she said looked like something from Little House on the Prairie, and every dress she picked out I thought looked like something a 25-year-old would wear to go out for cocktails. We finally compromised, and I think she looks pretty cute.

Ahren has arrived and we are spending lots of time sitting out on the back porch sipping wine and talking. I bought these solar fairy lights on Amazon and they make everything look magical.

Today we leave for Lake Tahoe for a couple of days, so I'll let you know how that goes!

  1. That’s a happy looking group! And, Eva’s dress is super cute! It sounds like you had a really nice family weekend with more to come. Have a great time in Tahoe!

  2. Eva looks like YOU in that picture! seriously, you! yeah,
I know what you mean about teens and clothing. years ago shopping with my niece was something else. she said I was picking out clothing that made her look like a ‘mini me’. my husband laughed so hard. I got the hint. ;p
have fun on your trip with ahren!!

  3. You have a remarkable family. You are right, it’s hard to find a modest but up to date dress. Eva looks just right.
