Too Many Choices!

Even Ozzie has had enough.  He has been following me from room to room all morning long, wondering what the heck I am doing with all these arm loads of fabric.  He can’t figure it out, and I doubt if I could make him understand.

Some of my blogging friends and I will be starting up a new challenge project in the next few days.  Much discussion has been going into the parameters we will observe, and I will give lots more details soon.  All I will say right now, is that this project is going to be super fun and will result in four incredible quilts, all totally different, but using similar techniques.  My problem at the moment is that I cannot for the life of me choose what fabrics to use.  My entire house is festooned with fabrics being auditioned for this upcoming project.  I have fabrics on my cutting table (three layers deep), on the dining room table, on the floor of the sewing room, and draped over chairs in the family room.  It looks like I am opening up my own fabric store right here in the house.

Do I use the fabrics I bought two years ago in reds, dark greens and gold–including an awesome toile in gold on a red background?

Do I use a dreamy fat quarter bundle, which has been supplemented by generous half yard cuts of some of the prettiest prints (courtesy of my friend Lisa)?

Or, maybe the deep roses and sagey green prints?

Perhaps a more dramatic palette of black?

What about starting all over and planning an entire quilt around this brown floral?  I could go shopping for lovely greens and corals–wouldn’t that be fun?

What to do, what to do?  I want to make a quilt out of all these gorgeous choices.  We have all talked a lot about what aspect of quilting we like the best:  cutting, piecing, applique, hand work.  I know what I love best.  Dreaming about all the possibilities!

  1. I don’t know how you are going to choose…they are all gorgeous! Thanks for sharing the process…it will be fun watching from the birth of the new project. I live vicariously through you…someday…someday I will take the plunge…until then, I just dream of all your lovely quilts.

  2. You should see how many different opinions you end up with – LOL
I vote for the first picture – the reds and golds and paisleys – I just love those, so if the quilt is for me……LOL

  3. Wow, those are all so beautiful, Nicole! That would be a tough, tough decision! I love the reds in the first picture, though. They look so rich! I’d also be tempted to plan an entire quilt around that last print you showed. Wow – talk about a focal fabric!!!!

  4. After staring at all the fabrics and wiping the drool from the corner of my mouth, I think I like bestest the fabrics from Ms. Lisa! Having said that, they are all gorgeous fabrics, and any grouping would be stunning in a quilt. I am such a great help, aren’t I? tee hee!
Thank you ever so much for a yummy post!
