Friday Finish #9

Here is Madeira, with all its borders finally on.  This quilt top was fun to make because of the special cutting of the triangle sections.  There are a a lot of bias edges though, and the quilt top doesn’t want to lay very flat.  It is a bit rumply.  My friend who is a machine quilter is confident that the rumples will “quilt out” as she says.

The fabric is Madeira by Blackbird Designs for Moda and the pattern is Jelly Roll Junction from the Anka’s Treasures book “On A Roll”.  It was fun to make, and calls for only one jelly roll!  I used two of them though because I wanted more choices in my color placement.

I have been thinking about how much it is going to cost me to get all these quilt tops that I finished this summer quilted.  All I can say is that it’s a good thing I got a job!

  10. Beautiful, Nicole! I’m going to miss all the wonderful Friday finishes once you start working full time. But I can’t wait to see how you choose to quilt each of them.

  11. Another beautiful quilt from you! I’m just glad someone is making somethin’.
If you truly need/want it to lay flat before it makes it to a quilter, spread it out as it wants to be (as flat as can be without stretching or fussing) on a tile/linoleum floor and spritz with water until damp-ish. Don’t touch until it’s completely dry. I’ve seen C-cup bubbles (an oxymoron, I know) disappear with this method.
Good luck with the new job!

  12. Another beautiful quilt!
It is one good thing that you got this new job now to pay for all this quilting to be done! If you keep this up, you might have to get a second job!

  13. Pssst, I know a great longarm quilter who just got a beautiful little Jack Russell puppy named Sophie, hop over to my blog and see what we have been up to…… Love your quilts and yes there is absolutely nothing better than home….
