Sometimes Losing Your Memory Can Be Fun

While I was turning my sewing room upside down this weekend, looking for the 3 1/2 square of fabric I swear Sophie ran off with, I made a discovery.  I love it when this happens.

Usually I keep all my future projects in my stash closet where I can frequently admire, fondle and consider them.  Imagine my surprise when I opened a dresser drawer and under some fabric scraps and triangle papers discovered this complete quilt kit.  The fabric looks to be some past Kansas Troubles collection (they all look alike to me) and this easy, fun looking Miss Rosie pattern.  The fabrics are all arranged just so and the kit was contained in a sturdy plastic zip project bag.

I have way WAY too much fabric by Kansas Troubles, and have sworn off buying any more until I use up what I have.  I made two quilts this past summer to make Christmas gifts for the grandparents, and used up quite a bit of the stash.  I probably stuck this in the drawer out of guilt for purchasing more fabric from this designer.  Good Lord, I am like an alcoholic hiding bottles of Jack Daniels out of sight for a rainy day.  Or rather a "dry" day.  Sure wouldn't want to run out or anything.

Isn't that just a kick?  I don't remember buying this fabric, and I certainly do not recall putting it away in the dresser.  I may be losing my mind, but gee, it is kinda fun sometimes!

  1. It is fun finding things. I cleaned out my quilt room a while back and found things that I thought I had thrown out. Boy has my taste changed over the years. I used to get all my fabric from a chain store and now a quilt shop. I can not stand chain store fabric. Does that make me a fabric snob?

  2. Finding a wonderful, forgotten, hidden treasure is like cleaning out your wallet and finding a couple twenties tucked in a hidden pocket. Fun, Fun, Fun!

  3. What a great surprise you found in your drawer! I wouldn’t fret too much that you don’t remember buying it or anything……uh maybe just make a concerted effort to put the new kits etc in their designated place ??

  4. What a treat! How fun to find something “new”…I just don’t know what to tell you about this memory thing…except that I’m not sure it’s getting any better as menopause is fading into the past…now I guess it’s…oh I don’t even want to think about it! LOL!

  5. Oh, my gosh. I thought I was the only one that did that. I’ll go through my cupboard and find kits and fabric I totally forgot about. I always say that in case of a nuclear attack, I’ll be fine as far as quilting supplies are concerned!

  6. What a wonderful surprise! I lose my mind quite often these days, and I’m always excited to find treasures I’ve stashed away somewhere. Isn’t it fun?

  7. I am sure you don’t remember this, because your Significant Other bought it and hid it in what was thought to be a “SAFE PLACE”
Now you have found it and the surprise is all turned topsy turvy.

  8. Hi,
Can you please let me know where you bought the “Country Girl” quilt kit from?
I have googled it but can’t find it anywhere.
