In between breaking up dog fights (a REALLY bad idea, I found), I did get some sewing done this past weekend. I was in a mood to sit down and accomplish something tangible in a brief period of time, and managed to complete two blocks from the Designer Mystery BOM that Fatquartershop has going on. You may recall that somehow I lost a 3 1/2 inch square of the green print for this block and put out a help request to friends in Blogland who might have some extra and would be willing to send me a little piece. The response was amazing. I even got two emails from gals who work at Fatquarter shop saying they would be happy to send me a replacement piece! My friend Jeanine was the first to email, so I took her up on her generous offer.
Using the new orange print rotary cutter she included with the scrap of green fabric (!!!), I finished the block on Sunday morning. I started the blocks out of sequence, and the block above is Block One in the series. Thank you Jeanine!
While I was on a tear, I finished Block Five as well. Isn't that Peppermint Star just the sweetest thing? I love this block!

Again, you put me to shame. I have this BOM series and have not done one thing. Sheesh.

This quilt is going to be so pretty. I have block six cut out and ready to go. I’m gonna sew that and the ones from Simply Sophisticated this weekend. Love the Fat Quarter Shop.

These blocks are wonderful. I love the colors. BOM’s seem to be my favorite. I’m in one now and start the 2009 Thimbleberries in December…can’t wait for that one. I’m trying to find another but think I’m going to have to go online for more. It may be because I just started quilting in March and the motivational aspect of a BOM is really good for me so I stay on top of them. I am really taken with this Fatquartershop you are doing. I remember when you posted the wonderful package you got along with the fabric you needed to replace the lost piece. Did Ozzie eat it? I used to have a dog that would eat socks. Just a thought, LOL. Boy can I relate to your need to just sit down an accomplish something tangible. Often times my meds prevent me from doing anything that requires a lot of focus. Matching up points, etc. and that is why I am collecting the 2000, 2 1/2 inch squares for a Milllenium quilt. Doesn’t take a lot of concentration until you start matching up strips so it is wonderful for when I need, really need to sew but can’t focus clearly. I am determined to finish collecting the squares I need even though there can’t be any dups because it is a charm quilt. My sister in law sends me a few now and then and the ladies from a class I am taking are also helping so I have 750 and counting. I’m thinking when I hit 1000, I can actually start sewing but not before then. Okay, I’ve rambled again, I’m so sorry, I am a rambler. Usually a lurker, fortunately for you all but when I do post, I can’t seem to shut up. But now seems appropriate.

I just received the 2008 FatQuartershop’s 12 Designer Mystery Block kit as a (2009) Christmas gift. Unfortunately, FQS is no longer selling the finishing kit or the finishing instructions.
