I dislike novelty fabrics.  I never buy them.

I find novelty fabrics to be gimmicky and way too cutesy for my taste.  How on earth could you decorate with them?   I never buy them ever.

They are so unsophisticated.  I certainly can't imagine having a quilt made up of them.  I really do hold them in distain. Me?  Buy novelty fabrics?  Hah.  I don't *think* so!

Guess there is an exception to every rule.  I am sitting here eating my hat and playing with the most adorable fabrics ever.  Bistro by Deb Strain for Moda.   On sale at Fatquartershop.com.

  1. Am I seeing another Anka’s Treasures quilt here??? It’s so nice to have you back. Maybe you’ll inspire me to clean my sewing room and get back at it. I still don’t have my two color quilt done!

  2. Can’t wait to see what magic you work with these. BTW, do you have a stash? As I subscribe to your blog, I can’t recall seeing any mention of stashbusting.

  3. I’ve never been a novelty fabric kind of girl either but I did get some Classic Winnie the Pooh fabric when I was making my grandson his baby quilt and then the Hungry Caterpiller fabric for the quilt I made him this Christmas. So far he’s the only one who can make me buy theme fabric. Love the fabric you have.

  4. Aren’t these just the greatest? I bought quite a bit of this fabric in December to make a quilt designed by my friend from Houston. I hope to start on it soon and will post on my blog.

  5. OH !!! I wish you hadn’t told me those are on sale…just this afternoon I finally finished making the backing for the two quilt tops I have done, the batting is cut and they are ready to go to the quilter. I can finally go forward again instead of in reverse playing catch up on UFO’s. I thought I had decided which of my kits I wanted to break out to start and you show me these cute blocks…shame on you. Of course you know I’m kidding. The fabrics really are appealing and your blocks are looking really wonderful. I’m anxious to see the finished product.

  6. Very pretty, I love the brown and red quilt, that color combination always gets my creative mind going, now if I could just get the energy side of my mind going… Glad to see you back to quilting, and enjoying those puppies of yours… Happy New Year to you and your family…..

  7. I NEED THESE, they are so cute. I’ve been collecting coffee theme fabrics and these would make a perfect addition! I want to make a coffee quilt, two in fact, one for me and one for my son who also loves coffee. Someday. I hope.
