I have a new pattern I am hoping to use someday soon. It is called "Kiss Me" by Fig Tree and Co. I love the use of scrappy reds at any time, and this quilt fits the bill. It is made with fabrics from the Fig Tree Strawberry Fields collection, which I have been on the hunt for this week. I scored what I need mostly on Etsy, but used the quiltshops.com resource for the remainder. The reds I ordered have not arrived as I write this post, but the grey floral that will be featured in the flying geese border is in the photo above. Sometimes searching for fabric is half the fun of making the project.
My Moda Bella Snow will be excellent as the background, but I think I need to order more already! Who knew how much of that fabric I would be going through?
My conscience panged me for a minute, as I am totally copying the quilt shown on the pattern. I know many people think doing that is the epitome of uncreativity. However, sometimes you see something that is pure perfection, and if you want an exact duplicate, I say go for it! If it makes you happy it must be good. That is a sweet little quilt, all in Fig Tree reds, and I want one!

I’m one who would just have to throw at least one or more other reds from my stash into this quilt just ‘cuz. Hey, this is your quilt, your time, and your fabric, so do what floats your boat!
Is it my cataract, or does that lovely floral in the photo look more brown than grey??

Love that pattern. Fig Tree actually offered that as a kit, but sold out of them REALLY fast and I wasn’t able to get one, and haven’t taken the time to try to locate all the fabric. GOOD for you, it will be beatiful, and it shouldn’t matter if you want one just like it, it’s your money. I buy kits a lot, then just add to the fabric if I want something a little different. It saves me a lot of time to buy the kit rather than having to pick out all of my own fabric. Can’t wait to see it done! I really like that material with the light yellow tint, where did you purchase it, and was it called just Moda Snow?
Nope, I say copy it exactly if you want. I’m not very creative when it comes to choosing random fabrics to make a pattern “work.” And, frankly, I’m not always attracted to a pattern, in particular. It’s usually the fabrics so I always want to go with the same fabrics or close.
Very cute quilt pattern! Gotta love Fig Tree:) I also buy kits or order the same fabrics especially if I’m really drawn to the pattern as is. There is a reason why you are drawn to it. Then there are times I go my own way but then it’s because I see the quilt in a different way. Each has it’s own reason. Quilting takes a lot of time and you want to be happy with the outcome! Nothing worse then not being happy with it!

I felt the exact same way about French Vintage, loved the pattern and fabric combination and could not come up with any ways to improve upon it, my quilt looks exactly like the quilt on the pattern cover and I love it! Once that quilt is done and on display in your home it’s just one more beautiful quilt, not a copy, it’s yours.
That is a really lovely quilt. Go for it! It won’t be an exact copy because you’ll arrange the blocks a bit differently, no doubt, so then it will be all yours. I like the look of all those squares.
I did purchase the kit from Fig Tree, and it is sitting on my shelf – waiting patiently. They actually released both versions – the red only and the mix of colors. I couldn’t help but get both! Maybe you should host a ‘Kiss-a-Long’! LOL…

I agree that you ought to make it the way you like! Why reinvent the proverbial wheel when it’s pretty perfect just the way it is? I happen to love Strawberry Fields and made my Summer Day Schnibble just.like.the.cover.of.the.pattern! Do it the way that makes YOU happy!!
I believe I’m attracted to a lot of patterns because of the fabric—-it’s what sold the pattern, so why not use the same fabrics? It takes too much time for me to be “creative” sometimes, so I don’t see what is wrong with copying. Know it will be pretty, Nicole.
That pattern’s adorable! Why mess with a good thing, if it suits your fancy? I go through my go-to background fabrics like water, too. Kona Snow’s one of my all-time favorites, with Kona Cream always waiting in the wings for my fig tree projects.
