My third, (or is it my fourth?) recent finish has been completed. I started this small quilt a few weeks ago, inspired by Chelsi Stratton’s Corn Maze pattern. After I bought her pattern, I realized the block size was much larger than I wanted, so I changed things up and made the pattern my own. I used the 12 inch Creative Grids Log Cabin trim tool and made my center pumpkin square 3 1/2″. My finished quilt is just a lap size, which is perfect for using it on my front porch or over the sofa or a chair inside.

Here is a close-up of the blocks and the sweet floral border print I used. The fabric collection is by Sherri and Chelsi for Moda and is called Willow and Birch. This turned out super cute, and I love it.
My plan is to start another small project, which I will share in a later post. Once that is complete, I will prioritize at least three more UFOs to tackle. If I stick to this schedule, I’ll complete some unfinished projects and still get to start some new things that will keep me from feeling bored. Wait until you see some of the new things I hope to start in the upcoming months!

I just had to share a photo of my backyard tree. I think it is some kind of maple tree, but don’t know for sure. Every year, regular as can be, in the first week of November it turns this gorgeous red color. This lasts just about a week, then all the leaves fall off and make a big mess on the lawn. It is so beautiful when the colors change and I look forward to this week each year. It’s been rainy the past couple of weeks, so a lot of the leaves have gotten knocked off already.
In family news, Eva’s water polo team tied for League Champions! Now the playoff bracket has been set and they are seeded #3. The first game is tonight (as I write this) and they are expected to win. Let’s see how long they can keep this going!

Love this. Bought the pattern for next year!
Good luck Eva! That tree is just too beautiful. There’s a big house near us with a row of maples, they were lovely a couple of weeks ago but bare now. I’d love something like that with such a bright colour to brighten the dullest of autumn days!
That is the cutest log cabin with the pumpkins. Another super finish! On a roll Nicole – what’s up for the next one? You won’t have any left to do at all soon!
Your tree is beautiful. Could it be an Amur Maple? We had 3 out our sliding door in Minnesota and they were also beautiful. I so miss fall trees since moving to Florida!
