Dennis and I are on a little getaway. We are in Carmel-by-the-Sea, staying at the Highlands Inn. Honestly, this is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed! The photo above is the view from our unit! Nothing but ocean as far as the eye can see. We used to live down in this area of the state, and truly loved it. The weather is outstanding, at least 30 degrees cooler than where we live in the Northern part of the state.

I won’t bore you with pictures of our unit, but it is so lovely. This is the bathroom, the size of most folks’ living rooms! I haven’t used the tub, but there is still time before we check out. There is a fireplace, and we enjoyed a roaring blaze last night while we watched our favorite Food Network shows on TV.

After dinner at the resort restaurant, we were on our way back to our unit when we discovered the staff had set a fire in one of the firepits near our unit. Of course, we had to sit and enjoy the warmth for a bit. It is chilly here, in the low 60s.

I had a splendid day shopping in downtown Carmel (yes, I incurred some credit card damage). Dennis can’t keep up with me, so he spent a lot of time sitting on a bench in the shade while I shopped. To make it up to him, we attended a wine-tasting event at the resort, where my entry ticket won a lottery for a free bottle of wine. Of course, my selection was his favorite red, and he came home very happy.

We have had the best time on this short vacation and I cannot wait to come back here!
