This block may have taken a while, but the results are sure worth it. I had to use the seam ripper a few times, but in the end, it all came together.
This is the second block of the Strawberry 2026 Sew Along, hosted by Heather over at My Sew Quilty Life. I have to admit, it is pretty darn cute. And when combined with block number one, it looks like the beginning of a fantastic quilt.

Just a heads up, if you think you’d like to participate in this sew-along: there are a lot (a LOT) of sew and flip corners, many of them very tiny pieces. It’s easy to get some of them turned wrong, and you may need your seam ripper to set things right as I did. By the way, this is not a free sew-along.
I was a bit distracted while listening to the audio version of Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. What a disagreeable group of characters there are in that book. I know I must have read it years ago, but I wanted to refresh my memory before the movie comes out. Good grief, I don’t think I want to spend one more minute with either Heathcliff or Cathy. Brats, both of them. This audiobook may be a DNF for me. Somebody remind me why this is such a long-standing classic.

Those blocks are just adorable. Heather Briggs is a wonderful designer and I can’t wait to see it develop. If I didn’t have her Flower Stand sitting around, I’d be tempted. Truth about Wuthering Heights, but I sometimes hate myself for always requiring a happy ending, so I’ll leave it at that. Xox

Ugh, I gave up on Wuthering Heights. Those characters were just so unpleasant.

When I finish this one, it will be a good companion to the Fig Tree Strawberry quilt I was working on last year.
I believe I tried to read that sometime ago, or perhaps it was Pride and Prejudice ? Either way, life is too short to read a book you don’t care for.

It will be fun to see the next blocks in the series. I hope they all don’t have 65 tiny pieces!

60*F today!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let the thawing begin. I was starting to think I’d moved back to suburban Chicago with the snow and ice that have lingered and kept us home for more than two weeks.

I switched up my audio book to something more entertaining while I made these gazillion flying geese. It makes the time go faster for sure.
Ha, I reread Wuthering Heights in 2020, and I totally regretted it! I read through to the end because I kept thinking, “This must get better.” It didn’t! I know I had read it ~25 years before. Did I like it then? Who knows. But those characters really are the pits! DNF seems like a wise choice… just sayin’
No, it sure didn’t get better. I know I read it decades ago for school, but had forgotten how dreary it is.
I don’t think I ever read the book or saw a movie version. However, I did re-read Jane Eyre and boy is it both wonderful and full of awful people. The movie version with Michael Fassbinder is excellent adaptation. I can’t listen to audio books and do anything else. I just can’t multi-task without something receiving the short end of the stick.
That 2nd block is just amazing!
I have my mom’s copy of Jane Eyre from the early 40s and re-read it a couple of years ago. It gave me a good feeling to read something my mom loved.
There is a new movie of Wuthering Heights coming out, and my husband and I were talking about going to see it. I wanted to refresh my memory of the story, and now I am not sure I want to subject myself to two hours with those unpleasant characters!
How wonderful to be able to read your mom’s copy. I’ve seen the ads for the movie Wuthering Heights. I haven’t been to a theater since b4 the pandemic. damn.
We sure have not gone very many times. That is one advantage of living in a small town. The movie theater is usually half empty. Once in a while we’ve been the only ones in the theater!
Oh those strawberry blocks are completely adorable! And the mason jar and wooden spoon just take it over the top!
Never read the book…. Over the weekend one of the Samsung channels on my TV had an older version of the movie playing. I watched it for about 20 minutes and gave up on it.
The story is just too dark. I guess the characters have their reasons for being so obnoxious, but I just couldn’t bear them.

Younger you are, the more of a book you need to experience before you give up. At my age, I give it a paragraph…..
I can see you are a woman who won’t stand to have her time wasted! lol
I typically give it 50 pages. I started a book yesterday and read 50 pages and wasn’t loving it. I gave it 10 more pages, and sure enough, it finally started to get interesting.
A couple days late so I’m not sure you’ll see this. When I was in high school I wrote a paper on the Bronte sisters and that was enough for me. I have several book-related groups on email and they all mentioned Wuthering Hts today and how popular it is! To each her/his own.

I was so put off by the disfunctional family and how horrid all the characters were. I can’t imagine why the movie is getting so much hype.
