I have waited some time for this to arrive. My new sofa and reading chair! I placed the order back in October, and now, more than halfway through January, it finally arrived. I wanted something in a dark camel color that would coordinate with my rug, and I was delighted that the leather upholstery matched the sample I was using perfectly. This photo isn’t showing the color exactly; the one of the chair is more accurate.

Our old furniture is at least 20 years old, and it was time for a new look for the living room. The table next to the chair looks sadly bare in the photo, but I have since stacked up my current books and a pretty candle on it. I could not be happier!
I’d love to replace Dennis’ gazillion-dollar recliner with something that is a nicer match to the new pieces, but he lives in that darn chair and won’t hear of it. If you recall, that recliner I bought for him was an emergency purchase when he was so sick and couldn’t get comfortable in a regular chair. I just bought the floor model at my local furniture store, and now we are stuck with it. Oh well, when I look at it, I should feel gratitude that those dark days are behind us.

I do have something kind of fun to share with you, though. Have you heard of random spinner wheel apps? I have a list of books on my To Be Read Shelf that I hope to get through this year. I have no idea where to start, so I went to pickerwheel.com and input my list of books. Once you get your items listed, you can spin the wheel, which randomly picks one of them. You can then delete it from the wheel and check it off your list. Is that handy or what?

You may not have two dozen books to read and need help selecting the next one, but how about what UFO to tackle next? Or what quilt top to send off for quilting among the dozen that are waiting? There are many applications for this random selection tool, and I enjoyed playing with it.
I am off to the Bay Area for my next eye injection, and I am looking forward to a couple of days visiting with my sisters and a good family friend. I won’t be doing much sewing until I get back, but I will try to post something entertaining for you while I am away.
Since much of the country is experiencing Snowmageddon, I hope you are staying warm and cozy if you are affected.

I write three columns per week on my guild’s private Facebook page. Is it okay if I copy/use both your wheel photos and write a column on that app? I think that’s a brilliant idea.
Certainly Vickie!
Your furniture is just gorgeous! Any quilt will look good on it too!
I love the wheel, so many useful choices. What to make for supper, which room to clean (haha), etc, etc.
Enjoy your visit with your sisters!
We will be digging out from 15 inches of snow. Been a long time since we’ve seen that much + below 0° temps. I am going to be sew happy in my sewing room.
We are at 10” and I got so much sewing done yesterday!
Did you ever watch Frazier? He’s dad had that old beat up recliner that he loved! If course Dennis’s doesn’t have duct tape on it so consider yourself lucky.🤣 Love your new furniture.
I love the new furniture! It looks like what I got a year ago. I call it a caramel color. So warm feeling and it looks good with any seasonal quilt. Have a good couple days.
Lovely chair and couch! I’m looking for something similar. Can you let me know where they were purchased? Thanks!
Nicole,
A random spinning wheel might be just the thing for projects I tend to procrastinate on. Have a wonderful visit with your sisters and friend.
What is it about men and their recliners? Yes, also thought of Frasier’s dad! My husband is the same – although it is on the end of a sofa (it is a corner sofa and has another recliner at the other end) he is always sitting in it when he feels he’s finished all the chores. My next quilt is going to be for my son – I had a wolf panel and bought Game of Thrones fabric as a Winter is Coming theme. I also have Maison Bleue to do – I think leader and ender. Then there’s another I’ve just seen that is rocking my boat!
I love the new furniture. We have had our sofa/loveseat reupholstered three times because the
“bones” were so good. This past fall we ordered a large carpet for the livingroom and it took 4 months to make it from India to the West Coast to here in Michigan. But we love it.
We got 6-8″ over the last several days, but it was the cold that was so difficult. It was between 2 and 17 degrees and so much wind that the “feels like” temps were well below zero! We had to travel 40 miles to a visitation and the freeways were just a mess.
The pickerwheel is a great idea!
Your new sofa & chair look like they were made for that room. They’re perfect with the tables & rug! My uncle had a ‘Frasier’s father’s recliner’ for years & it served him well. Your’s will be a reminder of how far Dennis has come since those scary days when he was so sick. It’s nice that you can combine your eye shot with a sisters’ visit! Enjoy that time together!
love the couch and chair. where did you end up buying? I particularly love the color. really elegant looking. safe journey!
Did your old couch and chair go to some family member’s early adult child to furnish his/her apartment for free?! That is how things went in DH’s family and it worked well. Sometimes furniture lasted to go to a third or fourth young family member.
We ended up with about 4″ of snow that now is frozen hard like an ice skating rink. I’ve been outside twice, dressed like Nanook of the North, and didn’t move far from where I had something to hold on to! We’re extremely grateful that – so far – the power is still on for us and for both sons in their homes here. The downside is that our temperatures aren’t forecast to be above freezing until next week and we may have more snow before the weekend.
Wishing you well with the eye procedure!
Hugs!
I like your couch and chair. We’ve had our leather couch and 2 recliners for 7 years. Our last couch and chair we had for 16 years and then gave it to our son and daughter-in-law and they kept it for 7 years. When we purchased the previous couch , the sales person said a person keeps a couch for about 8 years! We had another couch for 20 years. I guess if you get a nice neutral couch you’re apt to keep it longer.
Love the couch and char! They look perfect in your area and the colors are so yummy!
