Another WIP finished and put to rest. In my head, I’ve been calling this quilt “The Bow Quilt” because of the pieced “bow” in the top border. I am not sure if the quilt has a proper name other than “Erica Arndt’s 2025 Sew With Me” project. I’ve been on a roll this week, getting things done and dusted. I will send this one out for quilting soon. I accidentally ordered way too much border fabric, so I will have to do some kind of pieced backing. Not my favorite thing to do, but I am not going to waste that fabric.
FYI, the two center blocks were two that I made for the original intention of this quilt. It was supposed to be the 2024 Designer Mystery Quilt from the Fat Quarter Shop. As the quilt was coming together, I realized it just wasn’t my style. I liked the fabric collection, which is Bunny Hill’s “My Summer House”, however and wanted to use it. When I saw what Erica was doing, I subbed the two blocks I had made for two of her monthly blocks and just carried along with her sew-along.
I have some great news! A couple of you inquired about the pattern I used for my Maison Bleue quilt, which didn’t seem to be available anymore. (I told you I had started it years ago!). Anyway, I contacted Emily Herrick, the owner of The Crazy Old Ladies pattern company, to ask about the pattern’s availability. She very graciously added the pattern to her Etsy site, so you can get it if you are interested. This is a rather unusual block, not at all hard to make, but quite different from what you usually see. It would look terrific in just about any fabric collection, and best of all, it can be made with a layer cake!!!! I highly recommend you pick up the pattern from Emily because it is not available anywhere else.
I like it so much I may just make it again with one of the layer cakes I have been saving.
NOTE: The pattern sold out quickly, but Emily has relisted it. If you didn’t get one on the first look, try again.
