Champagne and a Dancing Child

Champagne and a dancing child.  It doesn't get much better than this!

My weekend was lovely, and I sure hope yours was as well.  We had such a nice celebration on Saturday.  Several readers have inquired as to the nature of the happy occasion.  Irish wedding bells?  No, not that.  My sister had been laid off from a company she has worked for for 20 years, and we were celebrating the fact that she landed a great new position.

Our meal, which consisted of a smoked turkey, a trio of stuffed vegetables, and a leek and goat cheese tart was excellent.  My sister brought dessert, which was a plum tart.  My sisters always make me wish I could bake, but my strengths lie elsewhere.

  1. Happy dancing for your sister’s new job! That’s a whole different kind of plum – Little Jack Horner-wise.
That tart looks divine! Full of very worthwhile calories, I’m sure!
Fret not that your strengths don’t lie in baking this type dessert. You have PLENTY of other wonderful strengths!
    Hugs!

  2. Sounds like a fun celebration. Good food and good company – it doesn’t get better than that!

  3. What a nice way to celebrate your sister’s new job! It looks like a beautiful week-end! The plum tart is so pretty…how could you cut into it?!

  4. It’s true…when one door closes…
Congratulations to your sister and I’m happy you were able to celebrate. The menu sounds wonderful!
Our weekend was wonderf and spent with family as well.

  5. I’m so happy for your sister. My company laid off hundreds of long term people about 5 years ago. I’m thrilled to see signs the economy is recovering.
I see a quilt theme in the plum tart…
