Pumpkin Spice Gatherings Clue 5 and Finish Diagram

Clue 5 of the Pumpkin Spice Gatherings sew-along was an easy basic star block. How did I not notice that big black thread on the top block when I took the picture? I haven't had a chance to work on Clue 6 yet, but I will get to it sometime this week. I don't want to fall behind.

This is the diagram of the finished quilt. I think it is pretty spectacular. I am so glad they aren't being coy about keeping the reveal a mystery. I much prefer to know where we are going with a project like this.

I figure in the next couple of weeks we will be making a gazillion black and cream hsts and that center block. The hsts are to be paper pieced, so that should go fast. How many do you think we will be making? It looks like a lot! The assembly is a diagonal setting, which I always have to struggle to wrap my head around. Also, this quilt is BIG, so laying it out on the design wall is going to be tricky.

Hope your week is going well. Hot as blazes here. We did get away to the Bay Area for medical appointments, and it's cooler there, so that was a relief.

  1. Pumpkin Spice will be fabulous! What a darling quilt! I don’t have a great space for laying out quilts on point any more, and it always takes me a minute to make sure everything is in the right position.
105 degrees here for a couple of days, but that means less outdoor work and more quilting!

  2. Cute quilt and I agree it’s good to see the whole plan from the first.
Lots of HSTs is an understatement! There are 24 just in the corners.
    Stay cool!
    Hugs!

  3. This is a great quilt! I love the background space, it gives such brightness to the quilt. Having a picture of the finish is helpful. Lots of wonderful quilting can be done with this quilt! I’m sure it was nice getting away from the heat in your area even though it was for medical reasons. Take care!
