November Holiday Decor Is Up

It is possible that no one but me will see my November holiday decor, but I put it up anyway. A lot of this decor was already up, but with Halloween figurines and runners. Swapping things out wasn't too hard. It's funny, but it gave me a sense of normalcy and happiness that I wasn't expecting. That acorn table runner on my dining table is one of my absolute favorites. It is a Lori Holt pattern and fabric.
You can click on the photos to enlarge and see more detail. (Like me in my pink hair turban.  Ahem.)

Dining room buffet. I do enjoy my little Pilgrims and Indians statuettes. It may be a fairy tale that the Pilgrims and Indians were kind to each other, but I like the notion of it. The runner is another leaf block I found somewhere and batiks from my stash. Maybe it's a Sheri from A Quilting Life block, I can't recall for sure.

Our local hardware store was having its annual holiday sale and I picked up some new decorations for my back hall table. Those wooden pumpkins, a floral wreath, and a little wooden sign that says Very Thankful. This table is right outside our bedroom and you can see it from the front foyer. I like it.

My coffee table didn't change much from Halloween, but I did swap out the table runner and added a fall candle and wreath. That runner is just log cabin blocks in the dreamy Squirrely Girl fabric by Bunny Hill that came out a year or so ago.

My front hall table. The runner is just a simple leaf block I found somewhere, and fall fabrics from my stash.

My kitchen island. Excuse the mess in the background. I was busy decorating, not tidying!

I didn't change my mantle much from Halloween. I took down the crows and put up a wooden turkey. That's my little sewing box on the hearth. I have big intentions to sew on some bindings. Wish me luck.

This little table is in my living room. No pattern for the runner. It is just half square triangles and fabric from my stash.

This decorating was a distraction and did help me kill a few hours where I wasn't worrying about my husband in the hospital. I am praying he is home by Thanksgiving so he can see it.

He'd better hurry and get well because Archie has taken over his gazillion-dollar new recliner chair. Excuse the can of carpet cleaner in the background. Archie had an "oops" on the carpet behind him.

  1. It’s not a myth about the Pilgrims and the Native Americans. If it weren’t for the NA, the Pilgrims would have all perished the first winter instead of just half of them. Squanto taught them how to plant corn and a myriad of other things (AFTER the Pilgrims had stolen their planted corn!). They did come together for a meal of Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, in a few years the Pilgrims and others were pushing them out of their land by cheating them, but in the beginning, they were the Pilgrims’ godsend. FYI, I’m in the Mayflower Society! Happy Thanksgiving and continued prayers for you and Dennis.

  2. Your home is lovely. Doing normal things helps so much. And once your husband comes home, he will truly appreciate it, too, because it will feel like home! Archie looks like he’s really enjoying playing master right now.😁❤️🙏

  3. Hi Nicole. Just dropping in again on your blog – which used to be a daily thing for me, but is now intermittent as I deal with medical issues of my own. I am very glad to hear that they made a quick diagnosis of your husband’s condition and have started treatment. It will be a long road, but it sounds like there is much cause to be optimistic about a good recovery. Good luck, strength and courage to you both as you work towards that recovery. A positive attitude will take you a long way, and patience will ease the journey. As for all the extra work you now have to take on at home, it’s a lot! So do what you can, but accept that it won’t all get done. The most thing is to take care of yourself. Sending my best wishes.

  4. You are making me rethink my large kitchen table. I might enjoy runner and decorations.
Sounds like Archie is enjoying his caretaker. Busy and dirty sounds like a happy dog. Animal care is so hard in an emergency.

  5. Your Fall quilts and runners look so good. Updating your holiday decor will help keep things “normal” at home and hubby will feel it too when he gets home. Hang in there Nicole. I’m so happy for you that there is an answer to your husband’s health issues, especially since he was so uncomfortable. One thing about the holidays, they will whistle this difficult time away for you quickly and before you know it Dennis will be home and life will go on, altered, but surprise how much stronger you both will be.

  6. Good for you taking the time & energy to do something beautiful! 🦃🌽🥧 Your decor will make both of you feel like there’s something ‘normal’ when you get home. Archie looks like he’s found his spot! I recognize a towel on the seat of an important chair–why do they choose that particular one? It happens here, too! Thanks for posting today. You & Dennis are in my thoughts everyday.

  7. Hope your husband continues to improve and be home soon. Love your decorations. I’m just not that ambitious…not much changes in my house. Continued prayers for you and your husband.

  8. Very happy to hear of Dennis’s progress! Wonderful he is able to move his legs. Sorry you have these long drives ahead of you as that in itself is tiring. Your decorations are lovely as always. I think doing the “everyday “ does normalize your environment and elevates your mood. I love the quilt on your kitchen counter. Would you share the pattern name? Hope your week goes well Nicole! Take care.

  9. Your Thanksgiving decor looks lovely. I’m sure that puttering around changing runners and decorations was a welcome distraction. Archie looks quite happy in that gazillion dollar chair. 😊 Hope recovery is going smoothly for Dennis. Take care! 🌻

  10. Creating as much normalcy as possible must be very calming. Love your runners!
You mentioned the mess – even enlarging the pictures I see no mess!

  11. Thinking of you and your husband today and hoping he is continuing with forward progress. Yes, some sense of normalcy, no doubt, feels comforting for you and your home looks warm and cozy! I am continuing to keep you both in my prayers and sending you a virtual hug.

  12. 1) progress that archie is sitting in the chair instead of trying to attack the chair
    2) river is almost 3 and I still can’t put anything on the coffee table except for a large glass bowl bc he is always looking for mischief
    3) I really love the wooden turkey. perfect for the mantle
    4) the house looks wonderful. normalcy during trying times is helpful

  13. Beautiful runners and decorating. I’m glad your husband was able to get a diagnosis and was able to move his legs. About 12 years ago my brother-in-law was diagnosed with GBS. He spent the summer in the hospital and in a rehab center and was able to come home inSeptember of that year. He pretty much recovered but now he has some balance issues but he is also 76. He has a huge yard that he’s constantly landscaping and he and my sister do all of it.

  14. Your fall decorations are all beautiful, and will lend a sense of normalcy to your life. Glad to hear that Dennis is able to move/raise his legs some; hopefully that will continue and improve!
Continued hugs and prayers for a full rehabilitation and recovery!

  15. Your decorations are gorgeous 😍! And Mr Archie looks like he’s claimed the chair for good 🤣 praying for continued improvement for your husband and that he will be home for Thanksgiving 🙏❤️ take care of you!

  16. Thinking of you and all that is on your plate right now. It is the routines, like decorating for holidays that bring a normalcy and joy in stressful times. May the future for you and your family only continue to brighten.

  17. Love that acorn runners and all your decorations! Keeping fingers crossed your hubby will be home by Thanksgiving. Sometimes it’s nice to just put up decorations just to put a smile on your face even if no one else sees them.
