Last Finish of 2017

Happy 2018 everyone!  I can just feel it in my bones that this is going to be a great year for quilting.  There are lots of great projects ahead of us.  Thank you so much for all your holiday wishes.  I felt like my mailbox was packed full of holiday greetings!

In the hubbub of the holidays, I  didn't have time to share this little finish in the photo above with you.  I came in under the wire with it on New Year's Eve.  I used the Township pattern again, this time in blues and creams from my stash of Primitive Gatherings Snowman 1 & 2 stash.  I love clearing away all the festive holiday decor over New Year's weekend, and putting out a few simple decorations for January and the winter months.  Blue and white seem like the perfect palette for this chillier time of year.

My husband and I had a quiet New Year's Eve, which suits us just fine.  We had a lovely dinner and some exceptional wine made by my son in law the winemaker.  La Folia 2009 Zinfandel.  A Library wine, with only 3 or 4 cases remaining.

We fell asleep by 10:00 due to all the work of putting this away (although the wine may have had something to do with our early bedtime as well):

It's all wrapped up until next year, when we will go through pulling it all out and putting it all away again.  Right now I am just enjoying my decluttered house.

Did you all have a terrific holiday season?  Mine was wonderful.  Our son came for an all too brief visit from Ireland, and we were able to spend lots of time with our grandchild Eva, who was on school break.  Too much good food, and to be honest, my jeans are not feeling real comfortable right now.  Plenty of time to address that situation in the coming weeks, right?

Best wishes to you all for a happy and healthy New Year.

  1. Love your wee blue and white Township quilt and agree that blue and while seem to be winter’s colors. We, too, had a quiet New Year’s Eve but did stay up until midnight due to neighborhood fireworks.
I have serious countertop envy ! Our kitchen is woefully short of counter space.
Wishing you and all a happy, healthy, and creative 2018!
    Hugs!

  3. Here’s to a happy, healthy New Year! That ‘healthy’ part seems more significant with each passing year, doesn’t it? We’re also in the New Year’s Eve 10:00 Club…it’s Midnight somewhere, right??
