  1. I’ve wanted to make a pineapple quilt for years, and I’ve eyeballed your red one on your old blog format since you posted it. Last week I ordered the papers to make a pineapple. It was a toss-up between the papers or Creative Grids. I figured I’d make only one quilt, so I decided not to invest in the ruler. Now the decision is to make it either from Civil War fabrics or reds. I’m leaning toward red now that I’ve seen yours again. Stay tuned!

  2. Oh Nicole! That pineapple quilt just sings! What a treasure. Love the outer border in the French General fabric. Your time and fabric investment were certainly well spent.

    1. I had such a huge stash of French General when I made it. And I had a couple of yards of the border fabric still on hand, so it pays to have a good stash! I thought with all those bias edges, I had better stabilize things.

  3. Summer in the Country is so cute!! I think I will go print the block patterns. I have lots of red, white and blue fabric I can use. Use it up, right?? I do like your fabric with that royal blue color!

    1. That was a fun sew-along. I was determined to make it with the featured fabric, and I remember having to scrounge around the internet to pull together the pieces!

  4. Me too! Love it! Headed to buy paper piecing patterns.

Nicole – what size are your blocks?

I am normally not a “red” person, but it is so fabulous.

  5. Have always loved your red pineapple quilt and so glad it ‘s getting the ‘quilting’ it deserves!
How big were the squares? I’m thinking of ordering papers. Thanks Nicole!

  6. Wow! The pineapple quilt is just stunning! Your color choice is perfect. Have a good week on your own–Cherry Garcia pairs nicely with brownies…just saying…

  7. I started a pineapple quilt, using a 5 in block. It quickly became a table runner, but I like it.
    Your quilt is just beautiful.
I opt for the ice cream..

    1. I have made a couple of small pineapple runners as well. That is the right size! My gosh the time and fabric that went into making that big one was incredible.

  8. Your Red Pineapple quilt is gorgeous! It reminds me that I have a pineapple quilt taking up space in a bin. I was using the Possibilities pineapple ruler as well, probably why I stopped working on it…🤔 The RW&B quilt will be beautiful on your porch for summer. Getting quilts back from the quilter is always an exciting day! Ice cream for dinner sounds perfect to me! 😊

    1. That Possibiilties ruler isn’t even made anymore. I remember struggling to have my blocks all come out the same size. So many seams. My quilters have both said they are on board to receive the quilts, so to the post office they will go.

  9. AMIL used to say that a quilt top magically became a quilt with the quilting finished! She was always happily astonished. Aren’t you delighted that these quilts will have been magically quilted before you next see them?!

    Hugs!

  10. I LOVE that red pineapple quilt!!!!! I remember seeing one by Thelma ‘cupcakesanddaisies’ that I loved too. Your border is lovely. I’ll be interested to see it after it comes back from the quilter!

  11. I love the pineapple too but I don’t think I’ll get farther then the one block I made. So many others in line! I remember the summer quilt with the mason jars and blue ribbon. Some fun, unique blocks in that one. I have at least 2 tops to start finishing for this summer. I picked up a horrible gastroenteritis bug last week and was down for the count. So I will get back to the sewing room slowly here as I recover.

    1. Oh, stomach flu is the absolute worst. The only good thing about it is that it doesn’t usually last too long. You will lose five or ten pounds though, so there’s that.

  12. I remember that gorgeous pineapple quilt. remember amber’s pink and green one on IG? I bought the papers from her but still haven’t made it. ugh.

years ago I made some patterns from Moda Bake Shop. they were riddled with unclear directions and often had errors so I stopped looking at their stuff. It looks like they cleaned up their web site and organized everything. I just might find something fun to make…..

    1. Moda Bake Shop patterns were always so bad. Multiple errors. It was like no one ever did a pattern check. I think Summer in the Country may have been the only complete sew-along I ever did with them. I didn’t have any issues with those patterns as I recall. It was a fun one.
I remember writing a blog post years ago in which I complained about Moda Bake Shop and said they needed to get their act together. I can think of one pattern designer who is notorious for making mistakes in her patterns. Or she used to before she hired someone to pattern check for her. Every time she put out a pattern you knew you had to wait to make it because inevitably there would be an Errata message to follow, saying, “Oh, sorry, don’t make 45 2 inch HSTS, it should be 2.5 inches….”

  13. Cherry Garcia is my favorite Ben & Jerry’s flavor! I almost always eat the frozen yogurt version, and then I tell myself that it was healthy!

    1. My favorite too. I also am fond of Chubby Hubby and Chunky Monkey. I never bothered with the yogurt versions though. If I am going in that direction, I am in for the whole calorie experience.
