I have been away for a couple of days consulting a doctor in Palo Alto. When I got home I wanted something good for dinner, but didn’t want to work to hard to get it. I settled in on Easy Sausage Rigatoni, which took about 15 minutes to prep and about 20 minutes to cook, including boiling the pasta. It was delicious!
The recipe is from Salt and Lavender, and I highly recommend it.

My medical appointment was with a cardiologist who specializes in heart arrhythmias. I’ve had some issues lately and have been having things checked out. I’ve had a bunch of tests, including the dreaded stress echo cardiogram, and have had to wear a heart monitor for a month. Imagine my relief when the doctor told me he didn’ think my issues were dire and can be handled by changing up my medication and careful monitoring. I just about floated all the way home. You may have seen me in my car, about 10 feet above the freeway as I drove.
The photo above sums up all I wanted to do when I got home. I sat outside with Dennis, having a nice glass of red wine, and started a new book (to me) by Richard Osman. I turned on my little witchy lantern and enjoyed looking at the trees beginning to turn color in my back yard. Life seems pretty good today.

Goodness your car must be a DeLorian! Great news indeed! And a celebratory glass of red wine – which I understand is also good for the blood – a little of what you fancy does you good! Dinner looked very tasty too. Similar to what my husband did for me the other day. I can taste your dinner just by looking at the photo! Cheers! LOL!
It was an easy and delicious recipe!
I’m so glad to hear this news! I am sure you are relieved. What a great way to celebrate. I’ll have to try the sausage Rigatoni – it sounds delicious!
I feel very fortunate today. Do try the recipe for Sausage Rigatoni-it was so good!
So happy your received good news from the cardiologist. You deserve a break. Goodness knows you guys have been through enough to last a lifetime! I can’t wait to try the rigatoni recipe. Thanks so much. I always enjoy your recommendations.❤️
Thanks Anita. I just want to be still and put my feet up!
this. exactly this.
I’m so glad you got good news!! The relief is immense and palpable!! I’d be floating too!! Love the Thursday Murders Club series. I will start the newest one soon. These are among the few in which I’m caught laughing out load. I liked the movie for the most part. Although there was one direction they took that would lose a great story line. I’m hoping they will make more but as in any book to screen adaptation they can’t begin to include it all.
I thought the screen adaptation of the first Thursday Murder Club book was quite good. I hope they do more. I am really enjoying the second book in the series.
Celebrating with you! Great news. Xox
Thanks Carol.
Good medical news is just the best! Company’s coming soon here so I’m looking over all your latest culinary finds. Thank you for including recipes well as your quilting experiences.
It’s always good to have a recommended recipe. I hope whatever you try you enjoy as much as I did.
Great news on your health, yay! I love the Thursday Murder Club books. The author writes with both humor and humanity. I devoured the most recent one.
I’ve heard the books get better with each new offering. I am really enjoying this second one.
Fantastic news, Nicole! A medical reprieve is in order for you and Dennis! You two have been through enough in the last bit.
I’m mentally exhausted from it all. I swear I don’t want to leave the house.
I’m so glad you got good news! I have made some of salt and lavender recipes before. I will have to try that one. Thank you for all the recommendations.
I need to look into some of their other recipes. I know I have tried one or two in the past, but this one was so good I think they deserve a deeper look!
Nicole,
I could feel your happiness as you described floating home and then enjoying a glass of wine, a good book, and the company of your husband! I have heard a lot about the Thursday Murder Club. I must start reading one of these!
That series gets better with each book. I thought the first one was ok, and I did enjoy the screen adaptation of it. This second one in the series though—it has grabbed me from the start!
Hooray for a good doctor report. Mr. Right and I AND my 95 year old Mom loved those books…you know there is a movie version? Pierce Brosnan. Helen Mirren. Ben Kingsley. There is talk of a movie sequel as well.
I did see the screen adaptation of the first Thursday Murder Club book and thought it was quite good. I hope they do more as well. What an all star cast!
Glad to hear that your medical situation has had a positive outcome! What a relief. This recipe sounds delicious and easy. Thanks for the recommendation.
Yes, it was great to get good news for once.
I can feel the relief in your description of floating home! As the old tv jingle went…’You deserve a break today!’ Give yourself some time off from to-do’s for a little while & just soak in those good feelings!
Yes, I am really having a hard time getting anything done. I just want to sit quietly and do nothing.
How sweet that medical news is and I’m so happy for you and Dennis that this isn’t another ongoing medical issue!
That recipe looks delicious – thanks!
Hugs!
Thank you Barbara.
Wonderful news about your medical issues. You and Dennis have had more than your fair share of issues over the last year. Prayers continue for the two of you. Your dinner looks delicious and maybe I will get out of my cooking funk and prepare a batch of Rigatoni, one of my favorites. Take care.
I’ll bet you could freeze the leftovers if you had to. It makes a lot!
So glad you had good news from your Cardiologist and that life back home has returned to a comfortable pattern! Enjoy!
Thanks Katherine.
I’m so glad you got good news. “I wanted something good for dinner but didn’t want to work hard to get it.” That’s my mantra.
Where did you find that adorable lamp?! That would look so cute on my porch! You have a great eye for decorative items.
Enjoy your book and your own bed.
Oh gosh, I think Dennis found it somewhere online. He sees these things and orders them. Every day we get a package of one thing or another! He is incorrigible.
Hope you are feeling better too!
Delighted to hear your health news.
